THE CP FAMILY WELCOMES PETULA!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Welcome Petula as in Petula Clark……………….Look to the Rainbow! If you read the words to this song it’s very fitting. Look, look, look to the rainbow and follow your dreams, whenever the world falls apart, never give up. Well, this little Petula has been looking for that dream and it is now starting to come true. She had been adopted out twice from this shelter and was returned each time because they said she was "boring". Now I have heard a cairn called many things but, boring has never been one of them.

She's very sweet, not at all aggressive, but is not interested in interacting with people. She's not afraid, but will just go and sit in a corner. Put her with some other dogs and she comes alive! She really enjoys being with her kind. They almost put her down the last time she was returned but decided to give her one more chance. They did try to tell everyone about her personality quirks. They felt that she will be adopted again as she is so cute and everyone falls in love with her. If she is adopted and is returned again, she will definitely be put down.

So, they wanted to get her into rescue where they knew she would find a good home and contacted Col Potter. I'm guessing that she was probably a Puppy Mill girl that was seized in a raid and made her way to this shelter. If people aren't aware of her background, they would not know what to expect from her. She certainly deserves a chance at a happy ever after! So, for this little one this past Tuesday being her 5th birthday, she got the best present she could have gotten. She is now part of the CP family and we will make sure that she finds a good home that will love her just the way she is, quirks and all!

I can’t say enough about the volunteers that are ready to jump into action on short notice to help a cairn in need and Stacey W. was the one to pick this special Petula up and get her to the vet for boarding. Thanks to all the volunteers out there ready and willing to help, CP could not save the cairns they do without each of you.

Keep looking to the rainbow “Petula” and may all your dreams come true!
