Alexis Brings Her Charms to Col. Potter!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Alexis, a Charming 6 year old Gray Brindle Female |
Please join us in welcoming a new Cairn
girl to Col. Potter! Beautiful Alexis is
about six-years-old and has really made the rounds. First she was with her people for about six
years, then she was turned into a shelter when they didn't really want her
anymore, then she was adopted out, and then returned to the shelter by an
elderly lady who hadn't accounted for Alexis's Cairnetic energy.
Poor girl… and there she sat.
Then, a kind shelter worker took Alexis
under her wing and gave Col. Potter a call to see if we could make room for
this little darlin'. You bet we could! We just scooped her right up, and now she's
settled in here until she's ready for her forever home!
Let's let Alexis know that she's
always welcome here at CP!

Goldie Rose, an 8 year old Light Wheaten Female |
This past weekend has been like
the Miss America Pageant for Cairns!
It's been a continuing parade of beautiful little Cairn girls who are witty,
intelligent, and have many talents to share with a lucky adoptive home.
First there was Corkie, then Anniversary, and now our latest little beauty,
Goldie Rose, is stepping up for her turn, appearing on the CP stage and taking
her walk down the runway! The one thing we know for sure about this Miss
America Pageant for Cairns
is this: These girls are all winners and deserve to wear the crown of a
Princess!
#4370 Goldie Rose is an 8 year
old, petite girl, weighing only 11.6 pounds, with Red Wheaten hair and
sweet, soulful eyes. Her name comes from our Name a Rescue Cairn

Col. Potter Celebrates a Beautiful Anniversary!
Contributed by CP's VP of
Intakes
Please help us welcome #4369 “Anniversary”, a 3 year old, Light Wheaten beauty who is housebroken, friendly, and good with kids.
Anniversary, a Beautiful 3 year old, Light Wheaten Female |
For too many people, the economy
is not improving and countless families are not doing better than they were a
couple of years ago, as evidenced by the story of this little girl.
Her family lost their home and
the rental unit they were moving into had a pet deposit that they simply could
not afford. They had to choose between food for their family or a pet
deposit. Time was drawing dangerously close to the point that this little
girl had to find a new home when CP learned of her plight. This past weekend
her time was up, and she had to go - one way or the other.
Generally couples that are
celebrating 39 years of marriage like to spend the day together doing things
they enjoy and reminiscing about their life together. CP has one such
special couple -- Kathy and Barney H. This past Saturday, Kathy and
Barney celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary by first driving the initial
leg of our True Love couple, and then, when this little girl became urgent,
they immediately packed up the van and headed off for the SIX hour round trip
to collect her. Best part is, they said, they were together and doing
what they both love: Helping the Cairns!
Anniversary is housebroken,
friendly, and good with children!

San Giorgio Enters the Col. Potter Fold!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Please help us welcome San Giorgio into the Col. Potter Fold!
His owners believed San Giorgio would do better in a more active home, so it was time to call in Col. Potter!
San Giorgio, a handsome 1.6 year old Red Brindle Boy |
Please help us welcome San Giorgio into the Col. Potter Fold!
San
Giorgio, whose name happens to be Italian for "St. George," is a
reddish-brindlish young fellow, all of 1 year and 8 months old, whose owners
found his adventurous Cairn spirit a bit
too much for their quiet lives. True enough, as well as being wonderfully friendly
and energetic, this
young man is full of righteous Cairnitude. San Giorgio is, it turns out, an avid lizard
slayer, and his owners grew weary of finding lizard (gecko?) parts on their
lanai. Ewwwww!!!
O.K., where did I leave that little lizard? |
His owners believed San Giorgio would do better in a more active home, so it was time to call in Col. Potter!
Let's all please welcome this happy handsome fellow to CP!
Thank
you all!

Corkie Makes Her Way to Col. Potter!

Corkie, a Beautiful Light Wheaten girl
Corkie, 10 years old and Full of Life!
How many of you have now, or had
in the past, aging parents that needed some assistance in their golden
years? You wouldn't think of turning your back on your parents, family
members, or even friends at this time. Just because they have slowed down
a little, or might not be able to do as much or as quickly as they once did,
they are valued members of society and are treated with the dignity and respect
that they have earned and deserve. Too bad that's not always the case for
our furkids. Many times when they become older, become a burden, or are
no longer of any value, they are cast aside, disposed of, or dumped to await
their inevitable fate.
Such is the sad story of our
newest CP family member. This beautiful little girl grew older and lost
her value, so was either going to be PTS or dumped at a shelter, where the same
fate more than likely awaited her, given her age. Well, we couldn't let
that happen! Denise G. from the Rescue Team rode - or should I say drove - to
her rescue, swooping her up and transporting her to safety and week long spa
treatment before heading to her Foster Home.
#2973 Corkie is a friendly and
sweet, 10 year old Wheaten girl who has many good years left in her for the
right family that wants a lady who is laid back and gentle.
Her name comes from our Name a Rescue Cairn
Program. It was given by Susan W. in loving memory of her first precious
Cairn, Corkie, who came from Ireland
and was so very well loved for her entire life, and beyond.
Please help us give a warm
welcome to CP’s Corkie, who now has the chance to be spoiled and loved too!

Two Special Boys find Love at Col. Potter!
Contributed by CP's VP of
Intakes
Brandy Alexander, 5 year old Wheaten Male
Ziggyman, 10 month old Wheaten Male
It's time for slings and arrows,
hearts and flowers, current loves, and ones no longer with us... Yes, it's
Valentine's Day this week, and most people think of other humans in terms of
being their Valentine, but many of us Cairn Lovers also consider our furkids
when celebrating Valentine's Day. After all, we each have that special
"heart" dog and Valentine's Day is the holiday of hearts!
Two little male Cairns have never
had anyone to love them, and most certainly were never anyone's
"heart" dog, but all of that changed this week when they became
members of the Col. Potter family. As you can see from their pictures,
they certainly can stand some loving care, and that's exactly what they are
getting. One day, real soon, they too will know what love is and become
someone's "heart" dog!
Both of their names come from our
Name a Rescue
Cairn Program and were donated in memory of very special furkids, so what
could be more appropriate than for these boys to carry the names of furkids
that were so very loved...
Brandy Alexander: Male, 5
years old, hanging dreadlocks all over his body – His name is donated by Claire
M. in memory of her wonderful Collie;
Ziggyman: Male, 10 months
old, black, leathery skin on his little body – His name is donated by Debbie C.
in honor of her Ziggy - he was loved so much;
These Two Special Boys will
immediately start feeling the outpouring of Love from their CP family as we
wrap our gentle, loving arms around them!

True Love Comes to Col. Potter!
Contributed by CP's VP of
Intakes
Paul, a Sweet, Petite 11.7 year old Black
Brindle Male
Joanne, a Sweet but Shy 9.2 year old Light Wheaten
Female
Valentine's Day is the
celebration of love, recognized around the world and it speaks a universal
language. Love knows no age restrictions and has no boundaries.
When you think of Great Lovers, you may think of Romeo & Juliet, Elizabeth Taylor
& Richard Burton, Sir Lancelot & Queen Guinevere, Grace
Kelly & Prince Rainier, Adam &
Eve, Bogey & Bacall, or maybe even Bonnie & Clyde. And now, CP is
adding it's very own pair of Great Lovers -- Paul & Joanne -- yes, just
like dreamy blue eyed Paul Newman and his lifelong love and wife Joanne
Woodward.
CP's True Love couple have been
together for many years. They have only been separated once during their
union, and Paul just about died of a broken heart. As they grew older,
they were no longer wanted and luckily were saved in the nick of time from a
date with a bullet. Knowing their attachment, it was impossible to find a
rescue group that could guarantee they would go to the same foster home and
ultimately, the same adoptive home. Impossible until CP came to the
rescue. CP was able to make their love story continue and grant their
Valentine's Day wish for a continued lifetime together for Paul and Joanne.
May we present, for the very
first time, as CP's True Love, Paul and Joanne:
#4367 Paul: Black Brindle,
DOB 5/2/01, just 10.6#, very friendly and extremely handsome, just like his
namesake;
#4368 Joanne: Light Wheaten/Cream,
DOB 12/1/03, a motherly weight of 19 lbs., and likes to stay a little more in
the background and defer to Paul, but friendly;
This True Love would not have
been possible without the help of Kathy H. in picking up the couple and Kaaren J. for giving these two a home while they search for their Forever home
together.
True Love is definitely a love
story for the ages!!!
Welcome and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
to Paul and Joanne!

Juris Prudence Steals Col. Potter Hearts!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Juris Prudence, a Super Sweet 2 year old, Gray Brindle
Female
There are laws against stealing,
but Col. Potter's newest girl innocently stole the hearts of all of the volunteers
who transported her into safety this weekend! Juris Prudence, who turns two years old on April 8, is a
solidly built Cairn girl, weighing in at 18.7 pounds. This sweet girl met each transporter with
loads of kisses, and she remained quiet throughout her long transport.
Juris Prudence's dark muzzle and
ears stand out against her beautiful Gray Brindle body. With kisses and that beautifully sweet face,
who could resist? Once out of her crate, this girl is affectionate, but is
also ready for action. She is definitely Cairn - watch out
squirrels! Juris Prudence is having a spa week before she heads toward
her foster home.
Her name, Juris Prudence, comes
from our Name a
Rescue Cairn Program and was donated by CP's Board of Directors in honor of
Karin M's mom, Patricia. What a wonderful way to honor a loved one!
Please welcome this beautiful
young girl!

Welcome Prince Albert, CP’s Newest Royalty!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Albert, a Handsome 9 year old Brindle Male
Please give a big “Hello!” to our
new man about town, Albert, a real prince of a guy! Today Albert is spiffed out in his mixed
brindle uniform, with distinguished splashes of gray about the temples and
muzzle. He cuts quite a handsome figure,
don't you think?
Albert is energetic, inquisitive, affectionate,
and loves his walks!
Albert is nine-years-old and had
been with his family his entire life. Unfortunately, their situation changed
dramatically and his people had to move to a place where he
wasn't allowed to follow. Sadly, but in
the best interest of Albert, they turned to Col. Potter for help, and we
were there, as we always try to be.
So, please, let's give our best Royal
Welcome to Albert as he takes his place in the CP family!
