A Warm Welcome to Sweet Childie!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Childie, a sweet 6 year old Wheaten Female
Please give a warm CP welcome to our new girl, Childie!

This sweet, six year old, Wheaten Cairn girl found herself abandoned in a shelter when her family decided they didn't want her anymore.  Luckily for her, this particular shelter is a safe place that does all it can to help their charges.  They reached out to Col. Potter and asked if we could help.  Thankfully, we could!

Childie is reported to be super sweet, friendly, and loves to cuddle.  She is named in honor of a very special Mom, someone who adored all children, and who was loved right back.  Childie is settling into her Foster home, and will soon be looking for that perfect Forever family!

Welcome, Childie!

ShyAnne finds a Warm Welcome at CP!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

ShyAnne, an 8 year old Wheaten Female

ShyAnne is an 8 year old female shelter intake whose Owner fell upon poor health, and was hospitalized as she was near death.  The police called the local shelter to get this woman’s three dogs that had been left alone in the house.

Happily, the Owner pulled through, and, after she was released from the hospital, she tried to reclaim all three dogs, though she was now in a wheelchair.  Two of the dogs were content to be house dogs, but ShyAnne was known to run out the front door at every opportunity.  Previously, she had been found as a stray from such an event.   The shelter personnel talked the Owner into letting them keep ShyAnne, for her safety and well being, but the other two dogs went back home with the Owner.

ShyAnne is a social, funny little girl.  She was getting very depressed in the shelter pens, so Col. Potter was called, and ShyAnne has now became our newest CP kid.

Let’s all give ShyAnne a warm CP welcome!

Kevin Patrick and LaVon find Freedom with CP

Contributed by CP's VP of Intakes

Kevin Patrick, a 7.5 year old, Black Brindle Male

LaVon, a 2.8 year old, Gray Brindle Female

The horrendous, insidious acts this Monday at the Boston Marathon reinforce how fragile and unpredictable life can be.  In today's world, it is impossible to safeguard your family and friends against these random, tragic acts of violence against innocent people by such militant and agitated groups or individuals who have no regard for human life.  The silver lining is that every tragedy shows us the many heroic individuals, who emerge, and the strength and resolve of people not to give in to this threat to our freedom.

In the midst of the chaos and turmoil of Monday, two little Cairns won their freedom and found safety with Col. Potter.  Both of them are named from our Name a Rescue Cairn Program.  This program is such a wonderful way to honor or remember someone, while helping a little Cairn in need.  It truly is the gift that keeps on giving the gift of life.

#4371 Kevin Patrick:  Male, Black Brindle, DOB 9/27/05 - donated by Jan and Stan D. in memory of their nephew, who was only 28 years old when he was murdered in December 2000.  Kevin was an Air Force vet who served as an MP with a great canine German Shepherd as his partner.

#4372 LaVon:  Female, Gray Brindle, DOB 6/13/10 - donated by Doreen and Bill W.  Bill won a family football pool and donated his winnings in memory of his mom, Mary LaVon Walker.

Out of Monday's tragedy, our silver lining came in the form of one little Black Brindle and one little Gray Brindle Cairn getting their first taste of Freedom.  Please help us welcome Kevin Patrick and LaVon to the CP family!

Silhouette to Flesh out the Details with Col. Potter!

Contributed by CP's VP of Intakes

Silhouette, a Red Wheaten 3-4 year old Female
A silhouette is the image of a person or thing.  The interior of a silhouette is featureless.  For many of our furkids that join the Col. Potter family, the description of a silhouette accurately describes their lives thus far.  Far too many have only existed as a featureless image, with one single purpose in this life.  They have not been able to develop personalities, enjoy human companionship, play with toys, or feel love.  They are just a silhouette of what they could, and, more importantly, should be.

And so, we have named our newest CP family member Silhouette.  She is a 3-4 year old female who will soon be shown in living color in her CP portraits, from here on out, as her previous featureless image develops into a beautiful Cairn Princess.

Silhouettes in Living Color!
Please help us welcome Silhouette to the CP family!

Galecki Escapes to the Safety of Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Galecki, a now-lucky 26 lb. Wheaten Male
Some boys don’t have an easy life.  Sometimes their humans are not kind.  Take poor Galecki, who had a zip-tie fastened tightly around his neck, cutting into his skin.  He somehow ended up at a shelter where, in addition to being in pain, he was scared.  There was not much hope or interest from visitors to the shelter.  His time was running out.  Lucky for him, his rescue angel appeared at the shelter to do work for another rescue group.  She saw Galecki, knew his end was near, and could not leave him behind.

She pulled him, brought him up to date on his vet care, and contacted Col. Potter to see if we could help.  As luck would now have it, we could!

Galecki is estimated to be 3-4 years old, and is 26 pounds, and he is now a lucky CP kid. No more zip-ties… No more shelters...  This boy deserves much better!!

Thanks to all his angels who helped this lucky boy get to his Foster Home!

Welcome, Galecki!

Laoghaire and Brathair find Hope with Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Laoghaire, a 3.5 year old Black Brindle Male
Brathair, a 3.5 year old Black Brindle Male
Well, it just doesn't seem fair when life chances happen that make us have to make hard decisions, but this was the case for the owner of these two handsome, 3 1/2 year old brothers.  He was no longer able to care for his boys, so he contacted Col. Potter to help.  They have been loved very much, and they will be missed by their owner.

Laoghaire (Scottish name pronounced Luther) is smaller of the two, slightly darker face, with black eyes, and Brathair (Scottish name pronounced Brother) is the larger of the two, with beautiful brown eyes.  They are said to be big boys, very sweet, and very well behaved.  They are going to make a great addition to someone’s family!

Let's give a big CP Welcome to Laoghaire and Brathair!!!
