Dorothy & Toto in the opening scenes of The Wizard of Oz |
The
many Volunteers with Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network work tirelessly, every day, across the USA and Canada, in sunshine, rain, snow, or in the
wake of tornadoes, and in response to all kinds of natural
and human disasters, rescuing Cairns in need and lovingly showing them “there’s no place like home!”
We
are thrilled to learn that the 2014 Oscar program on March 2nd will pay
special tribute to the 75th anniversary of the classic 1939 film "The
Wizard of Oz." If you have not seen
this production recently, you are sure to enjoy many wonderful scenes that are
bound to be on display during this Oscar presentation - and you will not need a
pair of Ruby Shoes to capture the magic!
Winning an Oscar for Best Original Song ("Somewhere Over the
Rainbow") and Best Original Score, "The Wizard of Oz." lost the
Best Picture Oscar that year to "Gone With the Wind", another
enduring classic.

Watch
the movie again, from beginning to end, and you will be in awe of Toto, aka
Terry the Cairn Terrier, who is in nearly
every scene, representing her breed exceptionally well with her remarkable
performance. Oscar worthy in every sense
of the word!
How could we not want to save each and every Cairn in need?
