Four Freedoms For Col. Potter!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

President Franklin Roosevelt delivered the Four Freedoms Speech to Congress on January 6, 1941. The four freedoms Roosevelt spoke of are the basic rights everyone in the world should enjoy: 1) Freedom of Speech 2) Freedom of Worship 3) Freedom from Want and 4) Freedom from Fear. Dogs that exist in puppy mills have no freedom, no voices, dream of a better life, live in fear and only want what they can't have.

We were contacted regarding some puppy mill dogs that needed rescue help, or they were going to be destroyed by the miller. They had reportedly tried to sell the dogs at auction but were unsuccessful. They gave rescue until this weekend to pick them up or they would be killed. Approximately 40 dogs including 4 Cairns achieved their basic rights and FREEDOM this weekend with the 4 Cairns finding their way into the loving arms of Col. Potter.

Introducing CP's Four Freedoms:

Speech: Female, one floppy ear, appears she may have recently whelped a litter of puppies, has plenty to say, thus she is Freedom of Speech

Worship: Female, with a menacing bark, but no bite, wishing for a better life where she doesn't have to defend herself

Want: Male, friendly and trusting, this boy just wants to experience life with a family to love him

Fear: Male, very fearful of people and what is happening to him, probably having difficulty seeing out of his left eye which doesn't help him with his fear.

The Four Freedoms have waited their whole lives to get to this point and achieve these basic rights. They will need time, patience and love to help them enjoy all that comes with these rights and freedom. They will need wonderful foster homes to help them fully achieve all that comes with freedom. If you would like to be one of these foster homes, especially for Want and Fear, please check out our foster facts by clicking on the following link: Sign Me UP! We have many foster homes that are willing to open their doors to the girls, but for some reason, not as many foster homes are willing to take in a foster boy. From my experience, the boys are more loving and easier going than the girls and bellybands work great for helping to teach them house manners.

My thanks to Marlene and Chuck T. for meeting the rescue caravan, picking up the Four Freedoms and for providing them weekend accommodations.

Please help me welcome the Four Freedoms!
