Animals on Broadway

Written by a CP Media Volunteer

Col. Potter Booth

Animals on Broadway took place in Walnut Creek, California on Sunday, May 3rd. Before it started there was a one mile walk called Paws on Parade. The last portion of this walk took the walkers down Broadway and past the Paws on Parade booths. Col. Potter had a booth there and Carol, Jay and Denise worked to spread the word about Col. Potter's efforts to rescue cairn terriers along with Toddy and Monkey who were there to represent the breed.

Toddy and Monkey

It was a great day. The rain and drizzle stopped at noon, and things dried up and warmed up. There were many people there, lavishing attention on Toddy and Monkey. Everyone enjoyed themselves and answered many Cairn questions, and handed out information. It was the first time Jay had met other Col. Potter volunteers and Toddy and Monkey provided a nice dose of Cairn energy. Carol entrusted Jay with Toddy a few times and they gave the area a good looking over and mingled with the other cheerful participants both canine and human. Jay felt like he was meeting a celebrity when he met Monkey. He was preceded by pictures of himself posed with his many medals for athletic achievement. He is an unassuming star and doesn't dwell on his accomplishments.

A Good Time was had by all!
