Contributed by Col. Potter Volunteers
I am in the midst of iris sales & Sunday a young couple brought their daughter, Dottie, with them to see the iris and buy some starts. I always have "plant orphans" that people can adopt in return for a small donation to CP. The couple chose to add a little donation to their bill and commented to Dottie, who appeared to be 7 or 8 years old, that I rescued Toto dogs.
Dottie had a dollar of her own, possibly her allowance and she insisted on donating it too. Danielle has agreed that Dottie should receive her own donation receipt and thank you. We also plan to use the Orphan Plants for Orphan Dogs money this year to purchase the name Dottie in the name of a cairn fundraiser, so Dottie can follow her namesake throughout the Col. Potter process from intake to adoption.
For Dottie and all the other folks out there that are potential dog rescuers, a great quote:
Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
