Last Friday night Col. Potter was made aware of a situation where more than 100 dogs were seized from a single home. There were reported to be Cairns in the group. Yesterday, several CP volunteers traveled to the shelter to do in-person IDs of the dogs and determine who were Cairns and give a brief medical assessment. This shelter is totally OVERWHELMED with this amount of dogs!!! They are not equipped to handle anything like this and are seeking help from rescues as quickly as possible.
Col. Potter has answered their plea and has agreed to take those identified as Cairns! Those with the greatest medical needs are being pulled and transported to our wonderful vet who has agreed to come in on a weekend! The others will be picked up early this week and moved to a facility for boarding and then be vetted.
ALL OF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE HELP OF OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS THOUGH!!!
- We need foster homes desperately! If you are a foster home and don't currently have a foster, or are a foster home that can squeeze in another, please let me know! If you are not currently a foster home, this is your opportunity to truly make a difference in the life of a Cairn!! Complete the foster application. We will give priority handling to foster home applications.
- We need help financially! The cost to bring a group of this size into Col. Potter will be sizeable! Please watch for a special fundraiser that is being put together to help these furkids.
- Once these furkids are vetted and ready to move to their foster homes, we will need transport help. Please try to give of your time and driving to get them transported.
Keep watching for more information, introduction and pictures of these furkids in the next few days ...
