Kevin Patrick and LaVon find Freedom with CP

Contributed by CP's VP of Intakes

Kevin Patrick, a 7.5 year old, Black Brindle Male

LaVon, a 2.8 year old, Gray Brindle Female

The horrendous, insidious acts this Monday at the Boston Marathon reinforce how fragile and unpredictable life can be.  In today's world, it is impossible to safeguard your family and friends against these random, tragic acts of violence against innocent people by such militant and agitated groups or individuals who have no regard for human life.  The silver lining is that every tragedy shows us the many heroic individuals, who emerge, and the strength and resolve of people not to give in to this threat to our freedom.

In the midst of the chaos and turmoil of Monday, two little Cairns won their freedom and found safety with Col. Potter.  Both of them are named from our Name a Rescue Cairn Program.  This program is such a wonderful way to honor or remember someone, while helping a little Cairn in need.  It truly is the gift that keeps on giving the gift of life.

#4371 Kevin Patrick:  Male, Black Brindle, DOB 9/27/05 - donated by Jan and Stan D. in memory of their nephew, who was only 28 years old when he was murdered in December 2000.  Kevin was an Air Force vet who served as an MP with a great canine German Shepherd as his partner.

#4372 LaVon:  Female, Gray Brindle, DOB 6/13/10 - donated by Doreen and Bill W.  Bill won a family football pool and donated his winnings in memory of his mom, Mary LaVon Walker.

Out of Monday's tragedy, our silver lining came in the form of one little Black Brindle and one little Gray Brindle Cairn getting their first taste of Freedom.  Please help us welcome Kevin Patrick and LaVon to the CP family!
