Ronzo, an adventuresome 2 year old Wheaten Male |
We
have all heard stories of dogs escaping their yards or slipping their collars
and off they go on an adventure. It is a traumatizing situation for an
owner and sometimes for the dog too. We all breathe a sigh of relief when
we hear that the dog returns home safe and sound. Col. Potter's new
little boy went on an adventure that took a few turns before he was safe.
Ronzo was found near a highway, shortly after he had been hit by a car.
An
animal patrol officer was able to collect him promptly and wisk him off to the
shelter. Poor little Ronzo was dazed, terrified, and in pain.
Luckily, his wounds were limited to abrasions on his head, chest and
front legs. The shelter gave Ronzo medicine for his pain and left him quietly
in his kennel to recover.
Unfortunately,
Ronzo's luck started to wear thin as he had landed in a high volume shelter,
his owners did not reclaim him, and his gruesome looking wounds and understandable
fear only turned away possible rescuers. The shelter returned a call from
CP's Rescue Team and advised that CP was this boy's only hope. As has
been done so many times for dogs on death row, CP said "Yes" we will
welcome him into the family! CP could see the wonderful little dog beyond
the terrible wounds!
Please
Welcome this 2 year old, 15 lb Wheaten/Cream sweetheart! Ronzo is having
his spa week and will head to his Foster Home this weekend.
Thank
you Katie E. for rescuing this sweet boy and to Reesa S. for starting him on
his way to his Foster Home.
Ronzo's
name was a generous donation from Amy R., through Col. Potter’s Name a Rescue Cairn Program, in honor of a dear friend, mentor, partner, and
wonderful man, Ron Melovitz, who passed away in 2013. From his friends at
