Fagan Finds Understanding at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Fagan, an active 3 year old Wheaten Male

Fagan is your typical 3 year old little Cairn boy that loves to do all of those things that a “terrier” is known for.  Those things that we all LOVE them for.  To name a few: (1) NOT being a good listener;  (2) Trying to be the boss all of the time; and (3) Being very stubborn.   Fagan’s family loved him, but felt that there was a home out there better equipped to “appreciate” all of those “terrier” things.  They wisely contacted Col. Potter for help - and here is Fagan!!!

Welcome Fagan to the Col. Potter family where we ALL love those little things that make you so special.  We are sure you won’t be in Foster Care for very long!

Many thanks to Kendall L and Kim D-S for helping this boy with this journey to his Foster Home and on to his Forever Home.

Bobo Bounces Back at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Bobo, an adorable 19 month old Wheaten Male...

Let’s please give a huge Col. Potter welcome to Bobo!  Little Bobo, who barely tips the scales at 12 lbs., comes to us from many, many places.  First, he went from a backyard breeder to a home, and then to  a high-kill shelter, and then to a rescue shelter, and then to another home, where he had stayed for barely a month before Col. Potter stepped in to put an end to this madness.

Whew, this little dude has certainly been-around-the-block and he’s only 19 months old!  “Geez, what’s a puppy gotta do to get some lovin’ in this world?” he asked.  “Is it my floppy little ears?  My cute little underbite?”

...with tons of charm and personality!

”Nono Bobo!  It’s not you!” we cried out.  “You’re perfect!”

Indeed, Col. Potter’s watchful eye was upon little Bobo, and our very fast-acting volunteer, Mary F., literally rushed out the door to rescue Bobo from the dangers of being featured on Craig’s List, and she brought him home, safe and sound, into the arms of the CP clan.

Bobo was named by his Rescue Angel, Mary, and her husband, in honor of their well-loved little dude “Bobo the Wonder Dog”, a delightful little Doxie.  We are certain that CP’s engaging little Bobo is going to do just as well as his namesake.  Surely, a loving Forever home is just around the next bend in his road…

Paloma Spreads Her Wings at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Paloma, a sweet and beautiful 7 year old Wheaten Female

Let’s give a big warm Col. Potter ¡Hola! to our new Cairngirl Paloma.  “Paloma” means “dove” in Spanish, and what a perfect name for this gentle, fair beauty.  Athough Paloma is a peaceful girl, don’t think she’s a pushover!  This hardy, blond Wheaten girl weighs in at a respectable 19½ lbs, and at the tender age of 7 years, she carries it well - if she must say so herself.

Paloma comes from a home where they had raised her and loved her since she was a puppy.  However, as more human puppies began arriving on the scene, Paloma found herself vying for the attention that used to be all hers.  Finally, her mom and dad decided that somewhere else might be a happier home for Paloma — someplace where they would love and care for her and make her the center of attention that she deserved to be.

Col. Potter agreed with that for sure, and so we took Paloma under our wing.  She’s such a lovely, affectionate girl, we know for sure that it won’t be long before she leaves the nest and flies into the loving arms of her forever home.

Well, since we have now run out of bird metaphors…  Let’s all please give Paloma a warm and wonderful Col. Potter Welcome!

Simon Rubin Paddy Takes the Stage at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Simon Rubin Paddy, an 11 year old Black Brindle Male

This distinguished gentleman found himself looking for a new home after his Mom got sick and could no longer take care of him. He is 11 years old and oh so handsome!  I am sure with the name of Simon Rubin Paddy he will have extreme good fortune in that his forever home is waiting for him just around the corner.

The name Simon Rubin Paddy is donated by Erin O. through Col. Potter’s Name a Rescue Cairn Program in honor of her first childhood Cairn Terrier who passed too soon.  According to Erin, he’s the one who started it all: Eight years later, when Erin was on her own, she got another Cairn Terrier!  Way to go Erin!!!

The Original Simon Rubin Paddy, born on St. Patrick’s Day, a Lucky Charm and an inspiration to this day!

Many thanks to two special ladies, Lynne K. and Barbara T. M., who went above and beyond “helping” Simon down the road to his Foster Home!

Welcome Simon Rubin Paddy to the Col. Potter family!!!

Morrie Finds Understanding at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Morrie, a gorgeous 4 year old Red Wheaten Male

Let’s all please give a big Col. Potter Welcome to Morrie, a new kid on the block! Morrie is a gorgeous Red Wheaten fellow, only 4 years old, and weighing in at a hefty 23 pounds.

Morrie is an owner surrender from an elderly woman who felt that Morrie is just a little more than she can handle.  Her words of wisdom were “I should have read something about Cairn Terriers before getting him.”  Well, yes, probably so, but really, Morrie is just a young guy with a big heart and an appetite for life.

Morrie has a smile just waiting for you!

When we met Morrie, he was affectionate and gentle, and he greeted us with a beautiful open smile.  We believe that he, too, thought that it was time for him to move on.  So, we loaded up all his stuff and moved him on over to Col. Potter.

Morrie is a good-looking dude and after a few weeks at the CP spa, they’re going to be lining up at the door to adopt this handsome hunk.  Who’s gon’na be the lucky human to win his favor?? Stay tuned…

Morrie is very affectionate and gentle

Welcome Morrie!

Bobbie Boy Finds Safety and Love at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Bobbie Boy, a delightful 12 year old Wheaten Male
Bobbie Boy is young for his age!

Please Welcome a special little man, Bobbie Boy, into the Col. Potter family!  Bobbie Boy is 12 years old and was a wonderful companion to an elderly lady who has loved him dearly.  Sadly, sometimes life gives us a path to follow alone.  Such is the case with Bobbie, in that, he could not go with his owner to her new home.   She knew in her heart of hearts that surrendering him to Col. Potter was the only way she would be sure that he would be safe and soon find his new Forever Home.

Bobbie Boy has settled right in with his new CP Blankie!

Bobbie Boy is indeed very safe and warm with our CP family until he finds his very own family once again!  Many thanks to Lynn B. and Mary H. for helping him on his journey to his Foster Home.  His new Foster Mom reports that “…he is a pleasant boy, very attentive and curious, and he's made himself right at home! …He bounces around chasing the soft basketball I got him.    He's a great pup!”

Foster Mom adds, “Bobby Boy definitely loves his walks!  He has a lot of bounce and energy - not at all what I expected from a 12 yr old.    He got so excited the first day that, after I put his harness on, and was struggling to get the resident dog's harness on, Bobby Boy stuck his head into the 2nd harness as well and I started laughing - two heads in one harness!  He is excellent on the same schedule as my two for waking up, potty, feeding, napping, etc., so I have to say that Bobby Boy is very adaptable and extraordinarily loving and sweet!”

Bobbie Boy is looking for his new Best Friend!

Welcome Bobbie Boy!  With these wonderful credentials, you are sure to find your Forever Home soon!

Fitzy Darcy Fits Right In at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Fitzy Darcy, a delightful 9 year old Wheaten Male

It is with great pride that we introduce to you Col. Potter’s new cairn boy, Fitzy Darcy.   We may be prejudiced, but we think Fitzy is one very handsome Wheaten dude, and a very sturdy one as well at 23 pounds.

Fitzy is a distinguished 9-year old gentleman who gets along grandly with all of his fellows, and we’re happy to report that he is also quite tolerant of those of the feline persuasion.  A class act for sure!

Although he comes from a loving home, Fitzy’s mama could no longer take care of him, and she had to go live someplace where Fitzy was not permitted to follow.  Someone there made the call to Col. Potter to please try and help this boy, and sure enough, we were able to offer Fitzy a seat at our table.

Fitzy is now well-placed and will be Summering with his wonderful new Foster Mom.  We know that with his grand personality, he will be ready to move onto his next Forever Home in no time at all.

Fitzy Darcy likes the snow – and is even cool with cats!

Let’s all please give Fitzy a hearty CP Welcome!

Mario gets a Super Welcome at Col. Potter!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Mario, a mellow 4 year old Black Brindle Male

Mario was adored by his family.   Unfortunately, circumstances changed and they were forced to find a new Forever Home for this happy and mellow 4 year old Cairn boy.  With time running short, the family learned about Col. Potter and sought help to ensure that Mario would find a safe new Forever Home.   Everyone that has met Mario comments that he is such a nice and happy boy.   He likes everyone he meets, both human and canine.   Mario will soon be joining his Foster Home which will enroll him in CP's boot camp so that he may loose a number of his ample 27 lbs.

Please Welcome this nice young man!
