PUPPIES AT NINE WEEKS - READY FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES!

Written by the Puppies' Foster Mom

Alpine ( Lily )

"Let's Get Champ- he's not looking!"

The puppies are getting busier and busier everyday. They are off and running (they are getting faster!) and playing and chasing and squabbling at times too. Everything they do is with GUSTO!!

They are crate trained now and each do very well and keep the crate clean and dry.

Tomorrow, the puppies will be nine weeks already. Alpine will be the first to leave the nest and will go to a family who lives in my area. They are so excited for her and wil pick her up on Wednesday! Her new name is Lily. Gosh, I'm going to miss that cute little face of hers, but since she is so close, I will get to see her sometimes!!

Champ will leave the following Monday and will be flying to PA with his new mom. His new name is Smudge taken from the Indian tradition of smudging which means 'to remove all negativity'. Smudge's new mom is hoping that Smudge will want to help make people happy as a therapy dog for hospice and nursing homes. It will be so hard to say goodbye to my little champ boy. He is a charmer!

Cambridge will keep her nickname as Camie and is already home here with us!! We FLUNKED and we couldn't be happier. Except every once in a while I think "Oh my God! What was I thinking!!!!" She is a feisty little one, but gets along really well with my Maggie.

Sebring is doing great. She was just spayed and had her teeth all cleaned up nice and purdy on Monday. She is doing great with housetraining and is really good in her crate now. We have continued with the eye drops, but she may have stabilized with the improvement. It doesn't bother her in the least though. She is such a good girl, although, she is another who is afraid of my 16 y/o son. He is getting a complex!!

Oh, and I did clip the puppies huge toenails shortly after taking these pictures. I was looking through them and thought they looked like huge bear claws!! Geeesh.

Babies love to cuddle!

The babies are seven weeks old and there were lots of new changes for them during the week. The biggest one was NO more mommy milk!! They try to sneak a suck, but they just can't get anything through the onsie! It's just a riot watching them chase her around the ex-pen. When they finally give in to the fact that they are not going to get any milk supply from her, they settle down and all play together with mama.

It's sweet to watch Sebring be such a good mama to them. The other big change for them is they are starting to get crate trained now and so is Mama! They are still together during the day, but I started separating them at night to help prepare them for their new homes. Last night was the first night and they did very well. Each one kept their crate unsoiled!!!

HURRAY! They got their first puppy shot this week too and each one did such a great job. Sebring received her shot as well and didn't even flinch. She is going to get her teeth all polished and cleaned and her guarantee to freedom (spayed) on Monday!

Champ is now 3 pounds,2 ounces, Cambridge is 2 pounds,12 ounces, and Alpine is 2 pounds,10 ounces.

They continue to be challenging to photograph as they are little busy bodies who don't always want to stop to say "cheeeeze"...more like pleeeease leave us alone already!!!

The Puppies!

The puppies are all walking and running and hopping very well now. They are a friendly little pack of puppies and typical little Cairns with attitude. They all still stick around by us when we are outdoors and chase our feet when they are not wrestling with each other. Champ did decide today that he was brave and ventured a little further out in the yard. I am pretty sure they all think their names are "PUPPIES!" as this is what I sing when I walk into the room to see them. They get so excited, almost as excited as when they see mama!!

I like getting them outside when they wake up so that they can do their 'dirty jobs' outside... much easier on me and my laundry machine!! They are too much fun.

"Tails" of The Puppies at 5 Weeks!

Alpine, Cambridge and Champ

Five weeks have just flown by!! These babies are all over the place now. They are so comical and you can see little personalities continuing to emerge. Little Cambridge is a feisty one and really gets mad when big brother Champ puts her in a head lock!! She likes to be vocal and tries to boss the others around. Champ is a big lover boy. When he gets tired, he comes over by your feet and cries to be held. He's a big snuggly bear. Alpine is just a sweetheart. She can play like a cairn with a toy ruffing it up and shaking it around, but she has a gentle sweetness that you can see in her cute little face.

They are all over 2 pounds now, with Champ being almost 2 1/2 pounds. They are making the switch to puppy food pretty easily, althoughthey sure would like it if Mama would just hold still for a couple of minutes so they could get a quick snack!! Especially Champ. He loves his Mama. For some reason, the pictures of Alpine did not turn out as well as I had hoped, so I'm a little disappointed that you can't see how cute she really is.

They are all very friendly and come running to us when they hear our voices. They are especially funny outside and kind of get the crazies romping from one person to the next and then wrestling with each other. I introduced my Maggie to them and it was just hilarious to watch them try to go after her underside looking for utters! None there and she did a little jump back and was like "No way- I'm not your mama!" She did a lot of play bowing to them and lots of tail wagging. She would like to clean their ears, but she can't figure out exactly how to do that with such small ones. (Rusty - our Golden - had huge floppy ears that she always kept clean for us). The puppies like to paw at her face and nip at her. She thinks they are lot of fun too.

Sebring's eye is continuing to improve with the meds that the vet prescribed. My sister was over today and was amazed at how much it had improved and really liked her new look since being bathed and groomed. She would like her for herself, except that she already has a housefull!! She is such a sweet little thing. It will be hard to part with her too! I wish I could slow time down some days!

Enjoy the pictures!

Here are some updated puppy pictures. They are all walking around pretty darn good now and are turning into little stinkers! Cambridge almost seems to have a little cairntude already!! Too cute. And now they have discovered toys!!

Champ has some teeth that are starting to erupt so I am sure the girls will be soon to follow. We did some video taping today too and if anything turned out (my daughter took over that role) I'll post it so everyone can see them outside playing.

Mama Sebring

The puppies were three weeks old on Wednesday. They are starting to cruise around their crate and Alpine even escaped this morning. Sebring woke me up very early this morning either to let me know about the puppy escaping or to come clean up the messy POOP the puppies had left. There was no way she was going to clean that mess up. She does like me to wait on her and any time I pick up one of the babies she sees it as a great opportunity to pee them!!! Aren't they precious!!! :)

Sebring and Rambler's Puppies are Two Weeks Old!

Written by the Puppies Foster Mom

The babies are growing up! Cambridge's (Camie) eyes are both open, Alpine (Ali) and Champ both have one eye open. You would be amazed at how quickly the little stinkers can move to avoid having their pictures taken!!

They are all healthy and growing so fast. They are each over a pound, with Champ being in the lead. He is such a big boy!

Sebring is getting bored with this baby stuff and would like to get out and play!! She is very lovable and craves attention.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for this little family of cars.... keep 'em comin'!!!

The Puppies have Names!

Written by a CP Foster Mom

The babies have finally been named! So please welcome Baby girl #1, now known as Cambridge (short name is Camie), Baby boy , now known as Champ (no short name for him!), and Baby girl #2 , now known as Alpine (short name Ali). It feels good to finally have names for them. Thank you for the great suggestions and helping us to name these little furballs!! Some of the suggested names had already been used so they could not be added to our list, but there were many that we wrote down for future use. In the end, the kids liked these best...my human kids that is. The puppies seem to like their new names too!

In the picture of them nursing Ali is first, then Camie and finally Champ (from left to right). This is the three little dumplings having a late night snack just tonight. In the next picture, Champ is on the bottom getting hugged by his sisters. Aren't they just adorable?

We Have PUPPIES!

The Col. Potter family would like to welcome Sebring's puppies to the wonderful world of FREEDOM! Sebring whelped three precious puppies Wednesday, two little girls and a boy.

Puppy number one is a little dark girl that weighed in at just over 6 ounces. Puppy number two is a very dark baby boy and also weighed slightly over 6 ounces. Puppy number three is a dark black brindle girl that weighed in at 6 and 5/8 ounces.

Col. Potter would like to thank all the "aunties and uncles" that made this possible!
