Welcome Two New Furkids!

CP found out about a three year old female cairn with puppies and a two year old male cairn in an animal shelter that needed help. After speaking to the shelter we learned that all the puppies but one had been adopted and the remaining puppy and mommy were spoken for. The male was being very fear aggressive and they didn't think that they would be able to make him available for adoption. We spoke to them again a couple of days later and learned he was scheduled to be put down on Monday. We asked if they might be willing to give him a little more time to see if he would come around and the shelter decided to give him until Thursday. Monday we called to see how he was doing and they said that he had a turn around once they put him in a kennel where he could see the female. That was good news! We called back on Tuesday and they had been able to temperament test him and he passed with flying colors. They then told us that the female was available as the potential adopters had backed out and asked if we take her. She had been very sweet and friendly from the start so it was a definite YES! Since the little two year old snot male straightened up his act and passed his temperament test we were taking him too! :)

Haskell and Kasold are appropriately named after streets in the city in which they were surrendered by their owner to the shelter and where they found their way into CP’s arms. Kaaren picked them up from the shelter and said that they were both very stinky and that she would go into the vet’s and clean them up before they started to work on them. Haskell is the larger of the two, has a dropped ear and is more outgoing. Kasold is a little shy and very skinny from whelping and nursing and should probably weigh 2-3 pounds more than she does. Her coat is somewhat thin, but it isn’t baby fine and should improve with proper grooming and nutrition. She showed some discomfort when being groomed as if her skin was sensitive. Haskell’s coat is thicker and he was very calm during grooming even when working on some mats in his coat. Thank you Kaaren for helping these two kids! Right now they are both being boarded and vetted and will be ready to travel next weekend to their foster homes. A BIG WELCOME to HASKELL and KASOLD! They are ready to start a new life with the help of CP.
