Last Sunday afternoon, a neighbor called another neighbor to ask if the house next door had been sold. It hadn't been. The neighbor called because he saw a little dog in the backyard of the unoccupied house that was for sale. That little dog turned out to be FRANZ!! Mom, Dad and Madelyn went over and caught him. He was full of burrs, and very dirty. They called the 800 number on his collar, and while waiting for the call back, fed and watered him, pulled out all the burrs, and gave him a bath. When I got to their house, he was on the floor, curled up in a towel, with Madelyn loving on him. They were his saviors. The other girls were at friends, and didn't meet him until they came by yesterday, where he was loved on again. All's well that ends well! :-)
A BIG shout out and THANK YOU to Franz' saviors from CPCRN!!

Dear Madelyn & Family, Thank you is not sufficient for getting Franz safely back to Foster Mom Carol. The entire Col. Potter family is very grateful and appreciative! You have a huge heart and a wonderful strategy for "trapping" the little guy. I hope someday you will have your own Franz as a "furever" friend. I know where you can get lots of excellent references! Muchos gracias!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking care of Franz on his "journey"! You are all truly angels!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to all the unknown angels who helped looked for this lost little boy.
I am a volunteer with CP who was checking our yahoo group every day, just hoping and praying that Franz would make it home safe. What a wonderful day when I read that your family had found him in that yard.
ReplyDeleteAnd what beautiful pictures...it looks like Franz knows he is safe now.

ReplyDeleteHi Madelyn and family --
ReplyDeleteI just want to tell you that you are a very special girl who did a wonderful thing along with your family by taking care of Franz until you knew who he belonged to. I work with Col. Potter as a volunteer and I also have two Cairns of my own and I know how scared I would be if one of them disappeared and I couldn't find him or her. You should be very proud of yourself for helping to bring Franz back to his foster mommy.
All the very best to you and your family and best wishes for a very happy holiday season.
Dear Madelyn and Family,
ReplyDeletethank you so much for caring and get Franz home to his Foster mom.
You are THE BEST.

Thank you so much for helping Franz find his way back to his foster home. My little dog Monkey and I had been searching for him earlier that weekend. We had to go back home on Saturday and were very tired and worried about him. We were very happy when your family called to let us know he was safe.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for being there and willing to help Franz find his way back to his foster mom! We were all so worried about him being out on his own and all the trouble he might find to get into. But you ROCK! You and your family have wonderful, caring hearts to step in and capture him, putting his little adventure to a safe end! He looks so comfortable in your arms - he must have known you were a friend of his and could trust you! Thanks again for being a HERO to all of his extended family across the country!

Thank you so much for being there for Franz, Madelyn and family! An angel sent him to where a loving family like yours would find him and take the time to find where he belonged and to care for him until his worried foster mom could bring him home. Our own Col Potter girl made a great escape three years ago, and while she finally came home on her own (into a safe trap by our front porch), we know the fear that Carol was feeling. You all certainly are heroes!
ReplyDeleteAcross the country Col Potter members were glued to their computers praying for Franz rescue - and then there it was "FRANZ IS SAFE" All because a little girl and her family scooped him up and took him in! Words can not express the happiness that your act of kindness brought to so many and especially to Franz - who looks so happy in Madelyn's arms! You truly are Angels!

Madelyn, you made such a huge diffence in one little cairns life and you have brought the biggest smiles and love beaming into many "Aunties" hearts. Thank you so very much for being a very special young lady.

Dear Madelyn - My name is Maisie and my "mom" is writing this for me. I was rescued by Col Potter over a year ago. I was safe at a foster home and then went to my forever home where I live with my pal Murry. We were very, very worried when our "mom" told us about Franz. We know that it's not fun to be alone and we knew Franz was scared and didn't know how to get home. Then you found him and helped him. That was a wonderful thing you did for him. All of us little cairns who've been rescued by Col Potter are like a family and you saved one of our family. Thank you-thank you-thank you. If you ever come to Boston, we'd like to meet you. (Please bring biscuits.) "Princess" Maisie and Murry
ReplyDeleteAs a foster parent and a dog owner, I always worry about one of my kids escaping! It is folks like you and your daughter, true caring angels, that give me hope for humanity. We are the only voice our four legged friends have. You used your voice! You kept our Frannie safe and made sure that he was back in safe harbor. What a blessing to know there are people like you out there who really love our kids! And I know that Franz thanks you too! In fact, I think he is kind of in love with your whole family! How wonderful is that!
ReplyDeleteThank you for everything you did!

Hello Madelyn and Family, I want to add my voice of thanks to everyone else's. I foster Colonel Potter Cairns in British Columbia, Canada, and I too was glued to the computer hoping day after day to read the news that Franz was safe. I lept up out of my chair when I read what you had done, and was hooting for joy and crying at the same time. The world is a kinder, safer place because of people like you. Thank you for your caring and your helpfulness that brought about such a happy ending for dear Franz.

ReplyDeleteMadelyn and family,
ReplyDeleteDid you ever dream your actions of saving Franz were the answer to so many prayers? What you folks did just makes our hearts happy. Thank you for being there for this little lost soul. I was one of the hundreds following the search for Franz from afar, way down here in Florida. I adopted from Col. Potter a few years ago, in 2002, and I know I'd be praying for someone like you and your family to help if I ever were to lose one of my dogs in a similar manner. Thank you for caring.

Madelyn,
ReplyDeleteThe people in Col. Potter Cairn Rescue are like a big family, so when something bad happens to one person's dog, it's a big deal for everyone. We were so sad when Franz went missing and were glued to our computers for days, hoping and praying that Franz would be found. Picture this: when the message came through that you had rescued him, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE were crying tears of happiness! HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE were saying prayers to thank God for sending a little angel (YOU!) to rescue him. We are proud that you have joined the Col. Potter rescue family.
(Your mom must be pretty special to have raised such a great kid!)
Thank you for your caring heart,

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for rescuing Franz. You and your family are such wonderful people to take him in and care for him until he was returned to his foster mom. You are very special and will be remembered by everyone involved in Col. Potter.

Madelyn and Family,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking the extra time to go out and get Franz and clean him up and keep him safe. These dogs have not known much kindness in their lives and you taught Franz that a human approaching him is not a bad thing. You showed him the love and comfort that he has never known and that he hopes to find. Thank you so much! We can't tell you how much it is appreciated.
Jody
Great job! You really helped Franz feel safe and helped him prepare for his journey to his forever home. Feel proud and happy for what you have done!
ReplyDeleteDear Madelyn & Family,
ReplyDeleteThank you doesn't cover our heartfelt gratitude to you and your family for bringing Franz safely back to Foster Mom Carol.
The entire Col. Potter family is so appreciative!
Many Blessings,
