A Huge THANK YOU to Franz' Saviors!

Written by Franz' Foster Mom

Last Sunday afternoon, a neighbor called another neighbor to ask if the house next door had been sold. It hadn't been. The neighbor called because he saw a little dog in the backyard of the unoccupied house that was for sale. That little dog turned out to be FRANZ!! Mom, Dad and Madelyn went over and caught him. He was full of burrs, and very dirty. They called the 800 number on his collar, and while waiting for the call back, fed and watered him, pulled out all the burrs, and gave him a bath. When I got to their house, he was on the floor, curled up in a towel, with Madelyn loving on him. They were his saviors. The other girls were at friends, and didn't meet him until they came by yesterday, where he was loved on again. All's well that ends well! :-)

A BIG shout out and THANK YOU to Franz' saviors from CPCRN!!

Franz has escaped from his Foster Mom in Walnut Creek, California. Franz is a male, wheaten cairn that weighs approximately 15 pounds that was recently rescued from a puppy mill. He is still very shy around people but likes other dogs. CPCRN is offering a reward for his return.

If you would like to help us search for Franz or if he is spotted or caught please call one of the following numbers:

Welcome Col. Potter's New Royalty!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Last week, Intakes was contacted by a small rescue group needing help with two cairns. They received these two from a 'breeding facility', and took them knowing that without help they had NO future. They immediately contacted CP to see if we could take them. We were able to quickly get a plan together to get these kids moved, and on Thursday, Gail S. met with the rescue rep to pick them up. On Friday, Gail met Monika and handed them off. They are now safe with Monika's vet, being brought up to date on their vetting, and testing.

Please help me welcome Empress Sissi, and Franz. Named after the Emperor and Empress of Austria. They had quite a love story, and it seems as if their spirits have helped our two kids.

Yesterday, both had their surgeries. At the start of Franz's, the vet noticed that his scrotum was the size of a fist. She thought he must have a tumor. As she proceeded with the surgery, she found that he had a hernia which had grown into his scrotum. She had never seen one so severe, but it was successfully repaired. As she began his dental, at the touch, a tooth fell out of his mouth. He ended up with 5 extractions. Just think of the pain this baby was in, yet he would melt into Monika's arms when she held him!

Empress Sissi had her spay and dental and did very well.

When Monika visited them while picking up some of the Freedom Fliers, she saw them both in the kennel run together. She watched as Sissi comforted Franz, knowing he didn't feel well. Here she just had surgery too, but could sense that he was not doing as well as she was, and he needed her. What a true generous spirit!!

I am always amazed and humbled by the resiliency of our kids, and try to be as forgiving and live in the moment as they do. Sissi and Franz are an inspiration.

Thanks to all of you, who support Col Potter's efforts on behalf of these breeder babies. Without support, both financial and time, we would not be able to say YES! when they need us. Please spread the word about our NLOL (New Leash on Life), so that more kids can find a safe haven in CP.

Welcome Empress Sissi and Franz!!
