Saturday, Carnegie officially joined Col. Potter. He has been patiently waiting as any cairn gentleman would. Carnegie is a gentleman and a clown as well as smart and sociable. He likes any and all animals. Which is good since he's been staying at an animal refuge and enjoying cats, dogs, chickens and other assorted species. He's 2 years old with unique coloring. He's a bigger cairn weighing in at 22 lbs. He knows commands too. He has quite a tale to tell.
Two ladies who run an animal refuge contacted Col. Potter seeking help finding Carnegie a home. They had a limited paper trail on this young man's mysterious journey and verified all that they could. Carnegie's life supposedly began in Germany. He came to the USA as a young lad. After a year or so his owner decided to give him away - no one knows why. He went to live with an older woman who kept him for a few months. She was having problems with his housebreaking and decided to find him a new home. Next he went to live with an older man who kept him for two months. The older man wasn't able to fine tune his housebreaking so Carnegie goes up for grabs again. One day a man saw the older man on a folding chair in the parking lot of Wal-Mart holding a sign "FREE CAIRN TERRIER" and Carnegie sitting next to it. The man asked if he could have the cairn. He gathered up Carnegie and headed down the highway to put an end to the recycling of Carnegie. This man just happened to be friends with the ladies who operated the animal refuge. Once Carnegie was able to see a vet it was discovered that he had a health issue (easily treated) that contributed to his housebreaking woes. With vet care and improved diet, he's doing much better. Through all the changes, twists and turns in his life, Carnegie has remained a happy go lucky boy.
If only he could talk!
