Einstein & Chuy Look to the Future with a little Help from Col. Potter!
Einstein, a Sweet 7 year old Black Brindle Male |
Chuy, a Sweet & Confident 5 year old Black Brindle Female |
Einstein
and Chuy had been together their entire life, owned by an 80 year old woman
living in an apartment setting. Sadly, she was forced to give up her
apartment and enter into assisted care. Since both Einstein and Chuy
weighed a mere 2 pounds over the facility’s weight limit, she wasn’t allowed
keep them.
The
woman who rented the apartment offered to take them, as they are adorable and
delightful, but she discovered she couldn't deal "with the breed".
She surrendered them to a “no kill” shelter in bad need of grooming.
Col. Potter was called, and both Einstein and Chuy became our newest CP
kids.
Chuy,
the female is reportedly is the bossier of the two (imagine that!), more "spunky" but still very sweet. Einstein, the male, is more laid back, but
also a real sweetie.
Let’s
all give Einstein and Chuy a warm CP Welcome!

Wooster, a Happy 8 month old Gray Brindle Male |
OK
Ladies, this one's for you! Whether you're married or single, in a
committed relationship or available, whether you consider yourself a
"cougar" or just looking for some companionship, this
introduction comes with a HEARTTHROB Warning! Some might say you are
robbing the cradle if you fall in love with this very handsome young boy, but
let them talk because he's worth it!
Introducing
CP's Newest Heartthrob, #6257 Wooster,
very handsome and distinctive Gray Brindle boy that is only 8 months old!
Wooster comes
to CP from a family that has both his parents. They decided his parents were “enough” Cairns to have in their family, and that Wooster needed to find his very own special
family to love and be loved by. And so, Col. Potter's Newest Heartthrob
found his way to CP!
Wooster, ready for a belly rub!

Stevie Bear Strikes a Pose for Col. Potter!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
The CP family has expanded to include a sweet and frightened little boy! Stevie Bear is a 15 lb, 3 yr old who was found as a stray in a high volume, rural shelter, and he was a mess: His coat was overgrown, tangled, and matted. A kind groomer offered her services to clean up this sweet boy. Just look at what an adorable little boy emerged from all the mess!

Despite
Stevie Bear's newly emerged good looks, he was not adopted, and his time was
running out, so a kind shelter representative contacted Col. Potter. A
wonderful CP volunteer was able to meet a shelter transport and whisk Stevie
Bear to safety!
Please

Kolby Connects with Col. Potter!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Kolby, a Handsome 4-5 year old Black Brindle Male |
We
all know the adventuresome side of cairns.
These tenacious furballs like nothing better than seeing what's on the other
side of the fence! No moss grows under their feet. An adventure you
say? Let's go!
Well,
the problem with Cairn adventures is sometimes they forget the road map, leave
the GPS at home or won't ask for directions. Guess what - lost and no
cell phone to call home! That's how the newest guy came to join Col.
Potter.
Kolby
is 4-5 years old, very friendly to humans and dogs as well as being very
handsome! Walks and playing are two of his favorite things. He's one of the luckier adventurers - a very
kind lady took him in while trying to find his owner. All resources
exhausted to find his home it became apparent no one was looking for this great
boy. Col. Potter was contacted and the door was opened for Kolby to come
on in! Kolby is now ready for a new adventure - finding a foster home
then on to a new forever home! Col. Potter is happy to be a part of his
next adventure.
Welcome
Kolby!

Col. Potter Looks Out for Rooney!
Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator
Rooney, a 12 lb, 4-5 year old Wheaten Male |
Please welcome a very lucky little boy, CP's
Rooney! This 4-5 year old, cute as a button, 12 lb little boy
was picked up as a stray by a high volume shelter but was never reclaimed
by his owner. It was the 11th hour when CP learned that Rooney's
hold time was up and he needed rescue NOW or he would be euthanized.
After working around the clock to find a local
rescue group that could pull him for us, CP was able to quickly move Rooney to
safety in the nick of time!
Upon examination by CP's veterinarian, it was
determined that Rooney had a condition where his lower eyelid curls inward
and the hair scratches the cornea. Rooney's
left eye is scarred, and the vision is impaired. While Rooney
will undergo a surgical procedure to correct his eyelid, he will need continued
monitoring and may still be at risk of losing his left eye. Rooney
will be examined and monitored by a canine eye specialist.
Rooney is looking for a bright future! |
All through this, enduring the pain and aggravation
that this condition has caused Rooney, with all the poking and prodding
and testing of his eye, this little boy has remained friendly and gentle, as if
he knows that he has found his guardian angel in CP and that we are here
to help him find a happily ever after.
Please help Col. Potter make all Rooney's dreams
come true! If you would like to donate toward Rooney's medical
expenses, please send your check with a note for Rooney #6335 and mail it to:

Bellezzina - More than a Pocket Full of Beauty!
Contributed by CP's VP of
Intakes
Introducing #6256 Bellezzina which is Italian for “beauty”, a 5 year old Red Wheaten. Her true background is a mystery, but I'm quite sure her future will be filled with love from an adoring adoptive family for this pocketbook beauty!
Bellezzina, a Sweet, Petite 5 year old Red Wheaten Female |
As any Cairn lover knows, Cairns
come in many different colors, shapes and sizes. Each has their own
unique personality, behavior traits and Cairn attitude! Big or small,
sweet or opinionated, we LOVE them all!
Working Intakes, you can get kind
of jaded. You get hardened because of the issues, circumstances, and
environment we sometimes have to work within when helping a Cairn join the CP
family. They can tend to blur in your memory. And then along will
come one that just touches you in a special way - either because of what they
have endured, or because of their appearance, or their personality, or their
heartfelt life story and why they found their way to rescue.
On Sunday, Intakes own Carolynne
made the trip to help a little girl to Freedom. We just didn't know
exactly how little, sweet, and adorable she really was until Carolynne had her
safely in her vehicle. Some people refer to them as
"pocketbook" Cairns
because they are so petite. Others will remember this girl because she is
so cute, a real beauty!

Beauty of Major proportions!

Renesmee to be Reborn with Col. Potter!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Give a big Welcome to "Renesmee"!
CP Renesmee, a beautiful 4
year old Wheaten Female
|
Alright, all you Twilight fans this one is for you!
Renesmee - pronounciation “re-NEHZ-may”; “Renee” is Greek and means “reborn”; “Esmee” is also Greek and means “loved or
esteemed”.
We hope for every rescue that comes into Col. Potter to be
reborn, loved, and esteemed by a new family. This beautiful girl is no exception - she deserves
all of this and more!
Her Foster Mom is ready to give her some lessens in how to
get along with other furkids. She can be a bully and we know that bully's
are not a good thing. I'm sure that we
are going to see changes in this girl, and she will soon be ready for her new
family to love her.
Renesmee is begging for Forever Love! |
Give a big Welcome to "Renesmee"!

Col. Potter Transport Volunteers!
Contributed by CP Volunteers
Spring is here – believe it or
not! – and families are starting to think about Summer travel, so what better
time to reflect on the travel involved in saving Cairns in need?
Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network
(CPCRN) Transport Volunteers travel a combined average of 15,000+ miles each
month…
…averaging 187,064 miles every
year…
…totaling 2, 244,768 miles - and
counting!
A
single transport can take 10 or more drivers and cover more than 800
miles!
Without
the quick response of the Transport team, many times Fosters have to be boarded
- costing Col. Potter hundreds of dollars that could otherwise be spent saving
another life!

Sashay Reveals her Charms to Col. Potter!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Sashay, a beautiful 6 year old Wheaten Female |
Please say “Hello!” to Sashay, a
gorgeous six-year-old Cairn girl with the biggest brown eyes! Wow! If she isn't just a little princess waiting to
happen! Look at what a difference a few
hours with Col. Potter has already made in the life of this beauty! She will surely be the pride of the pack as
she sashays her way into someone’s
heart! Thank you, Angel, for tackling
those tangles and letting Sashay’s beauty shine through!
Sashay came to Col. Potter hiding some of her Charms! |
Sashay is an owner surrender who
came to Col. Potter because her people were leaving for a country far, far away where pretty little dogs are not as
welcome as they are here. All things
considered, Sashay decided it was best for her to come over to Col. Potter for
safe haven (besides, she just hated her passport picture), and now she is in
her wonderful Foster Home, ready to chart a better course.
Let's all wish Sashay a happy,
beautiful life, and give her a hearty Welcome to the CP clan!

Collier Begins Again with Col. Potter!
Written by a CP Intakes
Coordinator
Collier, an active 2 year old Wheaten Male |
The world witnessed the horror of
the Boston Marathon bombing incident a few weeks ago. The reign of terror
continued afterwards and another innocent victim was added to the list, the
young MIT police office, Sean Collier. In his short 27 years of life,
this young man touched many hearts with his wit, personality, zest for life,
professionalism, and, most of all, his big, caring heart and easy smile.
These are two good things to remember and remember about his life.
As a tribute to this fine young
man, our newest young boy is named Collier. He is two years old and has
had quite the experience in his short life. Early Winter, he was found
out in the country in the middle of nowhere. He was very hungry and cold,
with no shelter. He had no ID or even a collar. A Rescue Angel came along and offered him a
ride to the nearest vet clinic, where Collier enjoyed warm quarters and
plenty of food! When no on came forward to claim this little guy, the kindly
vet began the search for a new home for his young patient. One
day, a man came to the vet clinic with one of his animals and he took Collier
home to his family. Home at last, but not for long...
Collier, adorable, young, and full of Cairn instincts! |
Although Collier loved his family
and they loved him, it wasn't the best place for a young Cairn with a very
healthy prey drive. Life down on the farm was far too tempting
- although Collier thought he was in Cairn
heaven! The day he caught his own fresh dinner, it was decided that he
needed a home with less temptation. Sometimes prey drive just gets in the
way!
This young Cairn survived a rough
situation out in the cold on his own and is very lucky to be alive. He's
enjoying the better things in life now, thanks to an unknown Rescue Angel. It is easy to imagine that Collier's Rescue Angel
was a lot like Officer Collier - always putting others first and helping in any
way possible.
Please welcome Collier - a very
lively and adorable young boy!
Humbly and in honor, a four paw
salute to Officer Sean Collier.
