Col.
Potter is like a safe haven, a protected harbor. We open our gate, and we
hear the pitter patter of little paws come through our door, the Cairns that have never
known love, care, or freedom. We help them all, no matter where they come
from, no matter if they have physical injuries, no matter if they are just
beginning their life or are entering the twilight years. Our only
restriction is having available Foster Homes, those safe havens in which these
little Cairns can
spend a little time while awaiting their Forever Home to find them.
Yesterday,
two beautiful little girls found their way out of the approaching Winter cold
and into our protected harbor. Our gate was open, and their little paws
happily came through the Col. Potter door! Please help us welcome:
Allegra
- F, 12 lbs., 6 years old, Red Wheaten
Edith
- F, 13.5 lbs., 7 years old, Golden Wheaten
Their
names are from the Longfellow poem, “The Children’s Hour”
“…I hear in the chamber above me
The
patter of little feet,
The
sound of a door that is opened,
And
voices soft and sweet.
From
my study I see in the lamplight,
Descending
the broad hall stair,
Grave
Alice, and
laughing Allegra,
And
Edith with golden hair. …”
Many
thanks to Julie and Judith for guiding Allegra and Edith to the Col. Potter
gate and through the door! Welcome sweet
girls!
