Allegra & Edith find an Open Gate at CP!

Contributed by CP's VP of Intakes

Allegra, a 6 year old Red Wheaten Female

Edith, a 7 year old Wheaten Female

Col. Potter is like a safe haven, a protected harbor.  We open our gate, and we hear the pitter patter of little paws come through our door, the Cairns that have never known love, care, or freedom.  We help them all, no matter where they come from, no matter if they have physical injuries, no matter if they are just beginning their life or are entering the twilight years.  Our only restriction is having available Foster Homes, those safe havens in which these little Cairns can spend a little time while awaiting their Forever Home to find them.

Yesterday, two beautiful little girls found their way out of the approaching Winter cold and into our protected harbor.  Our gate was open, and their little paws happily came through the Col. Potter door!  Please help us welcome:

Allegra - F, 12 lbs., 6 years old, Red Wheaten
Edith - F, 13.5 lbs., 7 years old, Golden Wheaten

Their names are from the Longfellow poem, “The Children’s Hour”

“…I hear in the chamber above me
The patter of little feet,
The sound of a door that is opened,
And voices soft and sweet.
From my study I see in the lamplight,
Descending the broad hall stair,
Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra,
And Edith with golden hair. …”

Many thanks to Julie and Judith for guiding Allegra and Edith to the Col. Potter gate and through the door!  Welcome sweet girls!

Col. Potter Needs a Few More Protected Harbors for rescued Cairns waiting at the gate!
Please Volunteer to Foster and help us offer safe haven to every Cairn in need!

Sanibel & Captiva Summer with Col. Potter!

Contributed by CP's VP of Intakes

Sanibel, a 7 year old Wheaten Female

Captiva, a 3 year old Black Brindle Female

Summertime has finally arrived!  Break out the shorts and swimsuits, get out the sand buckets and water floats, enjoy the sun and warm temperatures, and head to a beautiful beach for a while!  For those of us that live in the Great North, we only get to enjoy these Summertime treats for a couple of months a year.  There are, however, beautiful places that you can travel to and find Summertime throughout the year, no matter what month it is.  Two of the most beautiful little islands lay right off the west coast of Florida.  They offer a respite to relax, recharge, and rejuvenate oneself.

This past weekend, two little Cairn girls got the opportunity to find respite with Col. Potter.  They will now be able to put their prior life behind them and have a chance to relax, recharge, and rejuvenate themselves while they wait for their adoptive homes to find them and have a happily ever after.

Please help us Welcome:

Sanibel:  F, 7 years old, Wheaten

Captiva:  F, 3 years old, Black Brindle

Col. Potter is currently running very low on foster homes.  We don't ever want to be in a position to not be able to offer respite to little Cairns like Sanibel and Captiva because we don't have room for them at the inn.  If you are an Approved Foster Home and able to take a Foster now, please let us know.  If you are not a Foster Home, please consider applying to become one!

Enjoy your Summer, Sanibel and Captiva!
