Bradford’s Post Surgery Update!

Written by a CP Volunteer

Bradford’s major surgery to repair a
diaphragmatic hernia was successful!

When Bradford moved to his Foster Home two weeks ago, we knew he would be facing major surgery to repair a diaphragmatic hernia – Hopefully.  His stomach and intestines had herniated into his chest cavity, putting pressure on the left lung and deflating it, and his heart had moved out of place.  We knew this could be congenital, or it could be from an injury – such as being kicked.  If congenital, fixing would be much more complicated than if caused by an injury, so, no matter how hard it was to look at his sweet little face and hope he might have been kicked, that’s what we all prayed the surgeon would find.

Well, all of our prayers worked!  The surgeon said the procedure went very smoothly, there was an opening that she was able to use to move all his organs down, they all fit like a glove!  She confirmed that it was caused from an injury, possibly a kick, but at this point it was enough to know that it was not congenital and Bradford was recovering nicely.  The lung has not re-inflated yet, but she said that is probably good as it can be tricky to deal with the surgery with a lung that was re-inflating.  It may or may not re-inflate, but she is thinking positive that it will eventually come back.

Foster sister Billie is anxious to welcome Bradford back to her spot of sunshine!

Thanks to everyone for all of your prayer's for Bradford.  He is on his way to what we hope is a full recovery and we ask for your prayers that it will be a speedy one as well.

Thank you for anything you can do to help!

Bradford's full medical expenses are unknown at this time, but they will continue to mount with follow-up visits and normal vetting, once he has been discharged post surgery.  If you would like to help with his medical expenses, please send your check with a note for Bradford #6490 and mail it to:
