Sunday Sweets!

Sunday is full of SWEETS!  Each week we showcase the sweeter side of Cairns.  If you have a sweet filled Cairn and would like us to consider YOUR photo for an upcoming "Sunday Sweets!" send it to us at cpcrnblog@gmail.com (All photo submissions become the property of CPCRN and may be used for fundraising, promotion and/or outreach purposes.).

This is Skye who is named after the Isle of Sky where
these wonderful terriers originated.  She is now a city girl
living with her new family (Jack and John) in Ithaca and they
are so thrilled to have her.  As Skye's  (fka Drexel) foster mom
said, she's pretty chill and made the trip from Louisiana to New York
like a pro.  So nice to see these happy endings!  Welcome home Skye!

This handsome fella is Seaward and methinks this dude will be
finding his new home soon.  Such a love bug and he can throw
quite the side eye!  Such a beautiful coat and I think he'd like to hunt
for Easter eggs with you!  Welcome Seaward!

And a warm welcome to June Boy!
Look at those little paws -- so adorable.
We hope you find your new home before June little man!

Had to post Lucky Dog again as I see in Doreen Walker's
foster report that he has his adoption pending which just
warms my heart.  From dodging traffic to finding his new home!
Col. Potter's wonderful volunteers, fosters and adopters have done it again!

Hi - 👋- my name is Chaz and as you can see
I'm pretty darn cute!  While the snow is cool and all, I'd love to
enjoy springtime with you and your family.
Don't think it will be too long Chaz before you're welcomed home!

Help Needed in the Search for SKYE!

A search is being planned to find Skye and get her back home! Skye has been missing from her Ann Arbor, Michigan home since 5/31. With July 4th being next weekend, we’d like to do everything we can to get her back home before that scary time. She has been sighted several times in the same neighborhood, White Oak Dr., Pine Oak Dr. and English Oak Dr., just off of Newport Rd., the latest being Sunday 6/21. If you can help we need searchers that will actually go out and search for her and also watchers at different locations that will watch for any sightings of her. We are hoping to get as many as we can to help. We are planning an evening search on Saturday, June 27th between 5pm to 8pm or as long as you can stay, if you wish to come earlier in the day that will be fine too. Most of the sightings have been either early morning or evening; this is around her regular eating times and she is probably out searching for food so this is the most likely time to see her. If you know of anyone else that can help feel free to tell them or bring them along. You can also forward this to anyone you think might be interested. We are planning on meeting at the Rudolf Steiner School, 2775 Newport Rd., Ann Arbor. We need as many eyes as possible looking for Skye.

Come prepared with good walking shoes and a cooler with plenty of water. If you are planning on being a watcher you may want to bring a folding chair. You could also bring a bicycle and ride around the neighborhood. Also, a pocket full of yummy dog treats (cut up hot dogs or cheese are great) and a leash would be helpful as well. Make sure all yummy treats are VERY small, just enough to entice her. One very important thing to remember is if anyone spots her, they need to get down on the ground immediately, not move and please do not approach her, unless they have a dog with them and she is coming towards the dog, any movements need to be made very slowly. Calm is the key!! We will have more information on Sat. for those who come to help.

If you can help, please email Lindsey at lindseykkerr@gmail.com. If Skye is found before Sat. it will be posted on the blog and anyone that has contacted us by email will be notified. The weather for Sat. is scattered T-storms and showers Sat. night. If it is storming we may have to cancel - she most likely will seek shelter and will not be moving about.

Thank you for considering joining us in the search for Skye!

SKYE IS STILL MISSING IN ANN ARBOR, MI - CAN YOU HELP LOOK FOR HER SATURDAY ?

We are desperately searching for our lost gray female CairnTerrier named "Skye." Skye was lost 5/31/09 in the early evening. She ran away from her home on River Pines Dr, Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is still missing. Skye is a dark gray Cairn Terrier, with a medium length wiry coat. She looks like Toto in the Wizard of Oz. She is a small dog, approximately 13lbs. spayed female. When she runs or is excited she wheezes loudly due to a collapsing trachea. She is wearing a red harness with a blue bone shaped tag with her name, street address and phone number. She is not microchipped.

We have searched all of the surrounding neighborhoods for her and put up signs and fliers, put up craigslist ads and appeared in a column in a local newspaper. There have been four sightings of her in the Englave Dr, Pin Oak, and White Oak neighborhood off of North Maple Rd and Newport Rd. in Ann Arbor. The most recent sighting was in that neighborhood. She was last seen Saturday 6/6. She was seen 6/4 on Country Club Rd across the Huron River in the Barton Hills neighborhood.

We are not sure if she is in this general vicinity or if she has moved on. If we can get another sighting of her we will use bloodhounds to track her. If you see Skye, please do not chase her. She is a former puppymill rescue. She is scared and lost and will probably respond better to soft coaxing words and food. She loves cheese, peanut butter, cat food, and dog treats. If she runs away from you please follow her calmly and quietly or mark the direction she is heading. We would appreciate any help in finding Skye. We are trying to organize a search party for Saturday 6/13. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. If you see her, please call me Lindsey Kerr at 734-274-0199 immediately, day or night. Do not hesitate to call if you see her! Thank you.

MISSING CAIRN IN ANN ARBOR, MI

Skye

There is an urgent need for assistance in finding Skye in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has been missing since Saturday. Please review the following information and contact Lindsey to assist if you live in the area and can help.

Skye, formerly Col. Potter's Chastity, has escaped again from my parents' house in Ann Arbor, MI. This time a door blew open in the wind and she ran outside. We think she chased deer across the neighborhood and got lost. Mom and Dad have passed out fliers, put up posters, talked to hundreds of people, placed ads online, put out food, used bloodhounds to track her everything they can think of. She has not been seen since Saturday. They need all the prayers, good thoughts, and help they can get. I would like to help coordinate searches for Skye. (My parents at this point are too exhausted to be able to organize a search, though they of course are continuing to search, put up posters, etc.)

Is there anyone in or around Ann Arbor who can help?

I can tell people where to go, where Skye has been seen, what has been done to try and find her, etc. The only thing is that I am 800 miles away in Georgia, so all of my help will have to be by phone or email. Please let me know if you can help and I will try and organize a search. Please feel free to email me privately at lindseykkerr@gmail.com. If you would like to send your support to my mom, please email her in care of cpcrnblog@gmail.com and your good wishes will be forwarded to her. Please don't call her! I don't want to sound ungrateful for calls, but her cell phone needs to be dedicated to fielding calls of sightings. Also, any time she spends on the phone is time not spent searching.

I have copied below excerpts from an email she sent me this morning at 1am. Again, we appreciate any prayers and good thoughts sent on Skye's behalf.

"No news at all today. At 5am, I checked both beds and neither had been touched. I drove and walked around both Pin Oak and Englave Dr, as well as Steiner at that time. I also drove around the subdivision that is across Newport [Holyoke Ln and Lowell Rd]. I didn't call at first, then I decided to call quietly. I called loudly at Steiner [a school on Newport Rd] and waited for 10 minutes or so. Nothing, nada, zilch. I went back later in the morning and left more fragrant food, but still nothing when I checked the beds again in the afternoon and this evening. I just keep hoping that if she is cruising the neighborhood still."

"We just don't know where to focus, so until we learn something new, I am focused on the area around Steiner. I have to admit, though, that I drive Parkridge,Laurentide and all those streets on the other side of Maple either on the way to Newport or on the way home--hoping that someone has seen her or that she comes when I call. I still cross over the bridge to Barton, in case she is back over there [She had been spotted on Country Club Rd].

"Skye was seen crossing the road from west to east in front of Jean B's house, which is on the east side of Englave Dr, and is the 3rd or 4th house from the southernmost point of Englave; then Englave turns right (west) and becomes Blueberry Lane. The bloodhound followed Skye's trail through the tree line between the Englave subdivision and the Pin Oak subdivision. Almost in a direct line from Jean's house on Englave is White Oak Park (which runs between WhiteOak and Pin Oak) in the Pin Oak Subdivision. I have a line of food going from Skye's crate in Jean's yard to the place in White Oak Park where the bloodhound thought Skye had been and where Skye's other crate is placed."

Lindsey's parents are very worried and appreciate any assistance offered in searching for her. Thank you for your help and your prayers.

Skye is Home Safe in Michigan!

Skye came home on her own late last night. Connie went out to call one more time before bed and Skye came running across the yard, tail wagging, and jumped right on her.

Skye’s family is ecstatic and they can't make coherent sentences now because they are so happy and relieved. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers.

Lost Cairn in Ann Arbor, Michigan - Now FOUND!

A former Col. Potter Rescue, Chastity, now know as Skye, pulled away from her owner last night just before bedtime. The leash was apparently not hooked completely as it came off the harness loop. She is not wearing her Col. Potter tag, but does have a tag with the owner's name and phone number. She lives outside of the city in an area which is very wooded with lots of deer.

Skye's owner, Connie, could use assistance searching for and capturing the little social butterfly. If you or your friends or relatives would be able to assist in the search, or if Skye is spotted, please contact Connie on her cell phone, (734) 761-3715. Connie is located in Ann Arbor Michigan, zip code 48103. Perhaps something good and stinky (cheeseburger, sausage, fish, etc.) may entice the little wanderer. Skye is a gray brindle, mostly gray. Skye is wearing either a red or black harness, with her tag attached to the harness.

Please keep Skye and the people searching for her in your thoughts and prayers.

There's a New Girl in Town! - Written by a CP Intake Volunteer

A few days ago Col. Potter received word that a former puppy mill girl who had been adopted was returned to her original adoption agency. Her owner gave her a home, food, a safe place and love, but she realized this scared young cairn needed more help in adjusting to her new world. The Humane Society's breed placement put out an S.O.S. and Skye became a CP kid. She is currently at the vet for her check up and hold time. Skye is a beautiful black brindle and it looks like some gray or silver may appear as her coat grows out. She's a timid and scared girl right now, but Carla L., who will be her foster mom, will help her overcome the puppy mill remnants left in her mind. Carla has already visited her at the vet and had quality time with Skye to start the process of trust and love.

Skye may be the poster girl for all the puppy mill kids who are heading to freedom in the next few months. Many puppy mill dogs of all breeds will be showing up in rescues as some large puppy mills unwind and shut down in the coming months. Humane Societies and rescues are already at capacity and it's going to get worse. The HS that helped Skye is anticipating the arrival of 300 dogs of various breeds from a mill in the next few weeks with more to follow. This is also the mill where Skye came from. The HS is doing it's best to work with everyone who adopts one of these special kids. Once in a while a former PM kid needs more assistance due to the life endured in the mill. Skye's previous owner recognized this and out of love sought that help. Without foster homes and funding, CP wouldn't have been able to help this beautiful cairn to the wonderful life waiting for her. Thank you to all of you for making Col. Potter what it is - the best cairn rescue in the world! If you are interested in helping Col. Potter with our puppy mill dogs and other rescues fill out a Volunteer Application!

Please welcome Skye!
