Welcome CP's new little ones, Grayling and Staley!

Please help me welcome Col. Potter's two newest kids, Grayling and Staley!

These two are doubly blessed, first by becoming CP kids and second by have their names donated by a Col. Potter volunteer. Grayling and Staley were names chosen to honor volunteers Kathy & Mark C. who have put in countless hours caring for Col. Potter rescues at the Oz Project and who showed much kindness in the loss of Skye/Chastity.

Grayling is a gray brindle 2 year old girl, weighing 16.8lbs. She was a little nervous, not wanting to come out of her crate. But once out, she was friendly.

Staley is a wheaten 1.5 year old boy, weighing 16lbs . He is reportedly full of it - he shot out of the crate, wiggling all over. He should be labeled a possible escape artist - his rescuer said he somehow escaped out of a wire crate the previous night!

Skye Memorial at Oz - Labor of Love

Just a picture to share with you. After this I won't send anymore. I just needed these to tell the story. We gathered rocks from all over Oz. We stacked them and it looked pretty nice. Just as we got to the top we put one more rock on. It was like the straw that broke the camel's back. The whole thing collapsed and all the rocks started rolling down the hill. It was both exciting and scary for a few moments. You should have seen us side stepping and running to avoid being hit by the rocks. I'm sure anyone seeing this would have laughed. Not me. I cried with every rock that I carried so of course I cried like a baby when this happened. Then I laughed really laughed, the kind of laugh that brings tears.

I'm sure Skye was there. She was so full of mischief. I can't help but feel she had a little paw in this mess. So we gathered them all up and started over again. This time we made the base larger and with each layer we mixed mortar and mortared them together. Didn't I say that Skye/Chastity would never be forgotten?




Today I painted memory rocks for Skye's memorial garden.I'm asking everyone to bring a flower to plant in Skye's memory garden. After planting you will be given a rock to put your name on and a word or small message. This way it will be from all of us. Iwill send out a map sometime soon.

Skye Memorial at Oz - An Invitation

Hello Friends,

Last month, we started working on Skye/Chastity's Memorial. On Sept. 12th. we will be having a dedication service at the Oz Project in Michigan. On that day we would like to welcome you to Oz. Oz is furkid friendly so you can bring your kids with you. There will be a potluck dinner sometime around 4:00 or later. At dusk there will be a candlelight service for Skye/Chastity where her candle will be unveiled. Later we will have a campfire and just share stories of our kids.

We hope that you can come visit and be a part of the dedication ceremony. If you are interested in attending please reply to ozmudder@hotmail.com. I know that there are details to work out with those that wish to attend, including the potluck dinner and maybe some might wish to sleep over. The sooner that you reply the sooner we can begin to work out the little things. I hope that there will be many there including you.
