Welcome CP's new little ones, Grayling and Staley!

Please help me welcome Col. Potter's two newest kids, Grayling and Staley!

These two are doubly blessed, first by becoming CP kids and second by have their names donated by a Col. Potter volunteer. Grayling and Staley were names chosen to honor volunteers Kathy & Mark C. who have put in countless hours caring for Col. Potter rescues at the Oz Project and who showed much kindness in the loss of Skye/Chastity.

Grayling is a gray brindle 2 year old girl, weighing 16.8lbs. She was a little nervous, not wanting to come out of her crate. But once out, she was friendly.

Staley is a wheaten 1.5 year old boy, weighing 16lbs . He is reportedly full of it - he shot out of the crate, wiggling all over. He should be labeled a possible escape artist - his rescuer said he somehow escaped out of a wire crate the previous night!

Freedom Fliers II Have Landed!

Last month a group of furkids flew the puppy mill coop with a safe landing in Col. Potter. We were told there would be more coming once nursing Moms weaned pups. Saturday the second group of Freedom Fliers took flight over the skies of Georgia heading in three different directions to safe landing strips within CP. In total 18 furkids enjoyed the flight to freedom including 5 puppies 3 months and under. Because of the size and ages of this group, some went to our wonderful vet in South Carolina, some are headed to Oz Project and the puppies, well let's just say Deborah C. and her husband are going to be enjoying a lot of puppy breath!

An intake of this size and scope required a great group of people working together. I would like to thank Monika R., Susan B. and Susan C. for being our "landing crew", Susan C. and Carolynne M. for "layover" B&Bing the puppies and Oz Project bound kids Saturday night, for those helping “piloting" the transport of the Oz bound kids Saturday and Sunday, Stacey W. for setting up the "flight plan" to Oz, our "bird" photographers Monika, Susan C. and Carolynne M., Kathy C. of Oz Project, Deborah C. and our wonderful vet in SC for providing the safe "in-flight services" on their way to a happily ever after and most importantly to CP, which is all of you, for your support and providing them a "safe landing spot" within the loving arms of Col. CP's Economic Bailout is in Place ...

Just like the nation's economy, a puppy miller needed a bailout, or more precisely, the dogs in his kennel needed a bailout when he failed his USDA inspection. A rescue contact contacted him and was pulling as many dogs as she had rescue commitments for Saturday. Col. Potter agreed to bailout the five Cairns - 1 male and 4 females. As with any economic bailout, this puppy miller was looking to get as much as he could for his stock. As with some of the news stories you hear about financial institutions trying to one-up each other on pricing, obviously someone else also offered him a financial bailout and the 1 male did not make it to Col. Potter, but the 4 females did! So, while we are welcoming the 4 females, please think of the 1 male that was so close to the safety and security of the CP Economic Bailout, but was swept away in a different financial deal ...

All 4 girls are reported to be between 3-4 years old and their future and security is now secured as they travel to Oz Project today for some TLC and vetting before moving to foster homes in two weeks. My thanks to our Financial Advisors, otherwise known as Rescue Angels, Deborah and Cindy. And to our Bailout Assistants and Transporters for taking pictures and getting them to Oz Project today; Alan & Bonnie B., Irene C., Toby D. and Kathy C.

Salute To Working Americans - Written by CP's VP of Intakes

This was a busy weekend for auctions. There was a large auction in Ohio that had 11 Cairns. What better way to acknowledge hard working Americans and Col. Potter volunteers than to achieve freedom for these Cairns. We had our fingers crossed and hoped to at least get the majority of them. Hard work pays off ... we got ALL 11!!!!

I couldn't think of a better way to honor the working people of America and Col. Potter than to name these furkids after all of YOU!!! Six of these furkids traveled to Oz Project yesterday and we have pictures of them. The other five went to our vet in Ohio and I'll have pictures of them in a few days to share with you. Please help me Salute working Americans:

Welcome The Land of the Midnight Sun - Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Led Zeppelin sang "We come from the land of the ice and snow where the midnight sun and the hot springs blow". The Midnight Sun occurs annually as a phenomenon occurring in latitudes north and nearby to the south of the Arctic Circle and south and nearby to the north of the Antarctic Circle. The sun remains visible for a continuous 24 hours. The further north and closer to the Circle, the longer the Midnight Sun lasts.

Col. Potter’s Land of the Midnight Sun survived ice and snow and other harsh conditions where they came from in Ohio called a puppy mill. Saturday, six little Cairns got to see the Midnight Sun, free from their puppy mill cages, free from a life where they had no value other than to produce puppies and income for their captors, free to experience the phenomenon of freedom on the one day of the year that we experience the longest amount of daylight. The Midnight Sun shone brightly on the auction and allowed our representative to get all six Cairns available.

The Land of the Midnight Sun journeyed north to Oz Project where they will spend the next three weeks being vetted, loved and cared for by Kathy C. before moving on to their own foster homes. My thanks to our rescue angel for attending the auction and getting these babies, Bonnie B. for taking the pictures and getting them ready for their journey to Oz Project and all the transport volunteers that drove to help these babies reach Oz Project in northern Michigan. It might not quite be the Land of the Midnight Sun, but for these six, the sun will be shining on them from now on. Please help me welcome the Land of the Midnight Sun!

While some of these candidates are already out of the race for President, all of Col. Potter's Presidential Candidates are WINNERS for finding their way to Col. Potter and FREEDOM!

This took a lot of dedication by some very special rescue angels and volunteers as CP was only alerted to these Cairns on Friday. Originally, there was to be 5 Cairns, then Saturday afternoon, it became 6 Cairns and by late Saturday night it was 9 Cairns all from Amish PMs.

Thanks to rescue angels Deborah and Cindy for getting these furkids, Bonnie for providing the pictures, the transporters who moved 6 of them to Oz Project on Sunday, Kathy for taking on another group of furkids and for our wonderful vet outside of Cleveland for taking in the other 3 furkids on a Sunday.
