Today a sweet little girl joined Col.Potter, her name is Menolly (men - ah-lee). She is estimated to be one year old, and is a gorgeous wheaten. She was found as a stray by a shelter worker. The worker took her home for a week, in hopes of finding her family. While there, Menolly lived with children (one being a toddler), 5 dogs of various sizes, cats, and goats in the barn. She did perfectly well with all of them. The family was leaving on vacation, so they took her to the shelter.
At the shelter she was very scared and confused. She started to protect her food dish and her toys. She would growl and not let anyone near either. Because the staff knew how well she had done in the home, they realized she was scared and trying to protect what little she had left. In the words of the Kennel Manager: she is "JUST FREAKED OUT AT THE SHELTER".They contacted Col.Potter since her behavior made her 'unadoptable' through their facility, and they knew that rescue and getting out of that shelter was best for her.
Shelters that realize some breeds do not do well in that environment save lives by reaching out to Rescue. Sadly, too many shelters don't give scared kids this chance. Menolly was very lucky! Thanks to Kimberly B. who picked up Menolly today! Welcome, Menolly!
