CP foster Missy Tinker could use some good thoughts!

Tinker peed and wants a treat!

Tinker thinks Gilly is handsome!

Poor Missy just can't catch a break! Yesterday I found that she has CaOx crystals in her urine so she'll likely have to go on a special diet for her entire life. It's not a really restrictive diet but it will make it harder for her to find a forever home.

Then she woke Alan up at 6 am wanting to go potty. He took her out and she peed and then her pooh was soup. At 8 am she threw up in her crate. The only thing I can think of is that Iopened a new can of 95% beef dog food. I hope she's allergic to beef as that would be fairly easy. I'm cooking 3 lbs. of chicken legs in the crockpot to make her some sodium free broth as sodium is totally off the chart for dogs with CaOx.

Missy has gone through so much and she is just the brightest little kidlet. She is much braver these days although if Janna barks she retreats to her bed (okay, make that Gilly's bed ).
If we're outside with her and Janna barks she cowers behind which ever adult is out there with her. She was quite fearful of Alan at first but is getting over that. I'm able to teach her tricks that no one else has ever learned so quickly here ,other than Elf and Benji who are at the Bridge and my Gilly who went to an obedience class. Gilly is enjoying showing her tricks and behaviors...and garnering the treats that come along with training.

I've attached some photos. The first one is of her stretched up against my leg to inveigle me to hand over her goodie for pottying. She is usually very good about doing a sit for her goodies....but she was a tad eager. After a few shots of Missy I put the Christmas jingle bell scrunchie on Gilly.
Missy (Tinker) is being fostered in Ohio. Please click here to learn more about her.

Tinker Arrives at her foster home!

Written by Tinker's foster mom

Miss Tinker arrived the other evening. She was shaking enough that we could feel the whole crate quivering. We brought her home and put her in the dog run so she could ***finally*** pee after her 12 hour + trip! We had made a quick detour to pick up a plain hamburger for her....we don't always do it but since we had such a problem getting Gemma to eat we decided to give Missy T some enouragement. It worked! Teeny, tiny bits of hamburger in her meal and she cleaned it all up. Then I used more tiny bits to draw her to me. I slipped this polar fleece coat over her flattened little body and put her back in her crate to rest.

This morning she scratched on her crate door to request some service from the caretakers. She went out and peed and then was put back into the kitchen to wander and check it all out. She wagged her tail when she saw me and allowed me to come in and perform culinary magic with her breakfast. Yummmm, she gobbled her breakfast right up.What a nice little girl she is after the rotten life she has had! She's scared but gutsy about doing things. She's not going to let her past dictate her future.

This picture shows how beautiful she is. She'll be much more beautiful in a few weeks or a month. I'm going to get her up on the website and put her up as a Guardian Angel dog. This is the CP program that allows people to make donations to specific dogs that need additional vetting while they are in foster care. She's going to need some specialized testing to make sure everything is all right because some of her bloodwork numbers were not as the vets would have liked.

She would so love to get to our resident dogs. I'm going to talk to my vet and see what she thinks.

CP rescues Miss Tinker

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Please give a warm welcome to a special girl, Miss Tinker. She comes to us needing the help our group knows how to give so well. She is scared, covered in flea dermatitis and lice, having just weaned her last litter. This tiny wheaten girl, who will turn 5 in December, is confused and sad. She is finally free from her life of misery, but she does not know that yet. All she knows is that the life she was leading is now changing. What will those changes be? Will things be worse? More of the same? Will she be safe?

Can she even imagine that there is a 'BETTER'? How can she imagine what she has never experienced?

She spent the last week getting her spa treatment, along with being well fed, clean, dry, hydrated, and cared for the first time in her life. We will show her there is a 'better' life.

In a short time, I imagine her eyes will be clear and bright, and her face will be smiling. I hope she never thinks back to her past, unless its only to think ,"Glad that's over'.

Miss Tinker, you will love being clean, dry, fed, handled with gentle hands. You will have soft bedding, toys, treats, grass under your paws. Most of all, you will learn about LOVE from humans.

We are so glad you are here!
