Carolina and her Puppies video and update, days 4-6

Carolina and her puppies all continue to do well today. All the little puppies continue to gain weight, with Beaufort being the smallest at 8.7 oz . They are arching their back more when you pick them up. They are also quick to think. If you touch them they think you must be there to feed them and start looking for the right spot. LOL!

CP's foster Alize makes a plea to my Aunties and Uncles - I'z bein' abuzed

Dis iz Alize, and I'm aksin' fur sum help frum my 'stended fambly! I'm dejected, neglected, rejected, and over or underprotected here in Mizzurree! Dey took me tu da place wif da doctur, and nex ting I no I wakez up differnt! I cudn't fink right fur 2 dayz and stumbled all around, den when I can fink agin I find I gotz 2 owies - 1 on my tummee and 1 on my back. Wonce I founded bem owies anna wunted to getz dem funnee sewin' fings off me, deez meen peepulz put me in diz cone of shame! Day won't letz me run in da houze wif my frends anna make me stayz in dis prizon! Fosser mom sayz it waz a good ting, butz I gotz my douts!

(Alize had her spay/dental/shots on Wednesday, and she also had a growth on her back left top of hip that they removed and have sent in for biopsy - we won't have results for about 10 days. Her surgery was late in the day Wednesday, so she came home almost cross-eyed and took all day yesterday to fully come out of it. Last night she decided she didn't like those stitches/suture on her hip and was trying to remove them, so out came the cone, and she's really upset at having to wear it and remain quiet in the ex pen. It may be a long 10 days for Busy Lizzy before those stitches come out.

CP Foster Adonis is making great progress!

Adonis (of the Famous Lovers) is from the Ohio hoarder that had 200 dogs stacked in crates in the home. He's about 5 years old and is a total pistol. Either he was someone's loved pet before they got him or they treated him like a house pet, as he is nothing like an abused dog. Having said that, he does have some trust issues. When he first came here, he was fine for the most part, but then he started resisting all my attempts at petting within a week. He really didn't want to be touched, so growled and snapped to show me that. And anytime I raised my voice, he would cower as if he thought he was going to be beaten.

Once 'I' learned to not push his boundaries, he learned to trust me. I can pet him without any growling and he chirps and chortles when I come home from work as he's so glad to see me. He does still have some issues with hugging, so we don't. Well recently, he went on a play date at Westie Rescue Houston. They rescue Westies, Scotties and Cairns (and too many mixes). He was running around and playing with the other dogs (about 7), terribly happy to find so many toys on the floor, and never growled once at the male or female humans.

There was one old yorkie mix (looks just like a yorkie but white) who is very old and a real BEECH. He was bouncing and trying to get her to play, but she was heck bent on trying to set him back on his haunches with the few remaining teeth she has. I had to tell him to leave her alone, poor thing. He played long and hard with the other dogs that would join him. The change in him is remarkable and he's going to make someone a fantastic companion. Adonis is one of those Cairns that is too smart for his own good, talks a lot, is very interactive, and insists on telling you what he wants when he wants it. I'm so proud of my little black boy foster.

Chain

This little 8-month-old boy spent most of his young life in a hot back yard hooked to a chain. Now that he's free, he is making up for lost puppyhood. He jumps, he plays, he runs, he plays, he shakes his toys extra fast, and he plays. This little guy is all about playing with a playmate. He needs another pup with plenty of energy to keep up with him. He also needs a comfy shoulder and lap, because when it's time to nap, he loves to snuggle.

He's not quite housebroken yet, but wears a bellyband very well. I think he gets so interested in playing that he forgets that he needs to potty until it's too late to tell anyone. This guy is a little love bug and very quickly slips his way into your heart. He's a sweetie! Here he is playing with his much bigger foster 'brother'.

CP foster Gruffyn's Tale

Gruffy

Baby

Gruffy is the funniest little guy. Last night we had thunderstorms and Gruffy doesn't like em. He started to beat up on a squeaky toy but that upset Bunny and Janna who are noise phobic. So I gave Gruffy his Baby (photo attached) which he loves. It's a human baby toy that I think I paid $.25 for at a garage sale or thrift store. It's really for noise phobic dogs who are afraid of squeakers...but none of them have ever cared about it like Gruffy does. He loves it. (I was just searching for Baby to take the pic and I asked Alan if he had seen Gruffy's Baby...and Gruffy jumped down and ran off and came back with it in his mouth. That was a surprise.)

So last night he would be snoozing in my lap with Baby under his chin. Whenever we got a boomer Gruffy's head shot up and he grabbed his Baby in his mouth for a while. Almost as if the Baby acts like worry beads or something.

Around 3 am all remnants of the storm had passed over us so we took the dogs out for a last pee. They ran off the patio and peed like good kids. Then we softly called them to us to get their goodies. Everyone ran up and then Gruffy went back down into the dog run. He went right over to where Bunny had peed (he had come right past it on the way back to the patio) and peed over her pee. Alan and I were floored. We had a hard time keeping our laughter soft so as not to wake any neighbors.

What a little character....particularly for a little ole guy who came here and merely went from one bed to another for the first several weeks.

CP foster Dividend arrives in Texas!

There's a new girl in town. I picked up little Dividend this morning from Miss Kim's husband, who was nice enough to bring Divi home from her spa week. She is much sturdier looking than I expected from the report of severe tick infestation when she came in. She was good for my husband, and kept her crate dry last night. I gave her a little shower, and then we did some brushing. No vermin at present, but her hair is VERY thin/almost moth eaten in places. She investigated the toy bed and selected an orange snake to drag around. She wasn't thrilled about picture taking. This was the best I could do.

She seems like a sweet girl. I hope my guys don't ruin her.

CP foster Princess Zoe arrives at her foster home

Here are some photos of the Princess. The Princess came with a box of ritzy toys and a bed big enough for a Great Dane. She has her Puppia harness and pink and black zebra stripped leash with matching hot pink poop bag holder and poop bags.

Apparently she has never seen leaves as she stalks them and barks at them. She also stalked a rug tag and barked at it and when I hid it, she pawed at the rug looking for it. She also destroyed two seedlings, turned over a large planter, and stalked and barked at a birdbath. They must not have these things in the Big Apple. So I guess you could say she is settling in nicely.

CP foster Boscar plays in the snow - VIDEO!

I am so very proud of foster boy, Boscar. He came to us on Christmas Eve and was housebroken within 4 weeks. WELL - I was sure that during this horrendous weather we've been having that there was bound to be an accident. I WAS SURE PROVEN WRONG!!!! This guy was a trooper through the sleet, 45-60 mph winds and unrelenting snow --- not one accident. He is the sweetest most loving guy and so wants to please everyone. I hope you enjoy this video of him playing in the snow and his snuggle time this afternoon.

He has very distinctive coloring, he has a black head, tail and boots on all four legs and a grey/cream/brown brindle on the rest of his body. He is such a wonderful sweet boy.
