Chain

This little 8-month-old boy spent most of his young life in a hot back yard hooked to a chain. Now that he's free, he is making up for lost puppyhood. He jumps, he plays, he runs, he plays, he shakes his toys extra fast, and he plays. This little guy is all about playing with a playmate. He needs another pup with plenty of energy to keep up with him. He also needs a comfy shoulder and lap, because when it's time to nap, he loves to snuggle.

He's not quite housebroken yet, but wears a bellyband very well. I think he gets so interested in playing that he forgets that he needs to potty until it's too late to tell anyone. This guy is a little love bug and very quickly slips his way into your heart. He's a sweetie! Here he is playing with his much bigger foster 'brother'.

CP Foster Carmichael - be still my heart!

Is this guy handsome or what? I just love the grey around his chompers. He has big paws for a Cairn; his coat is coming in so thick and the undercoat is coming in great too. Something to make everyone smile.

Dear Santa, by a Cairn in Foster Care

Dear Santa:

I hope you get my letter and can help me with my request,
Not just for me, there are so many, so I am asking also for all the rest.

Our lives have been so very tough, some of us more than the other,
From a very young age is how it started when we were taken from our mothers.

Some of us have lived our lives caged, others on the streets,
We have known hunger and thirst, not lots of food or treats.

Then there are those who lived in homes where there was no compassion,
Some ignored, some beat, some of us used just for fashion.

And then one day we were no longer wanted and taken away,
Each of our destiny’s unknown from to day to day to day.

Some of us puppy’s, some sick and some were kind of old,
Some were afraid and some were weak, but some of us very bold.

So many of us made it out and rescued, our lives at last had been saved,
But still Dear Santa there is just one thing that we ask for each and every day.

We need a home we can call our own, and someone to love forever,
A dish of food, a bowl of water, a life we can share together.

So please Dear Santa this Christmas please find this present in your sack,
A loving home with people who will promise to never take us back.

My foster Mom has promised me that you would try to help us if you can,
She said you know how special we are and in your heart know where we’ve been.
　
So please Dear Santa tell them I’ve been good along with all the rest,
And if I get my special home I’ll always be the best.

Here's CP foster Slugger - Video!!

Slugger’s been here almost a week and he's a real sweetie pie. He lets everyone have their own space and is as peaceful as can be. Sometimes, he just naps in his crate. He hasn’t shown any interest in toys, birds, or squirrels, but he will sit outside near the cow pasture and just wait and wait and wait - hoping to see some cows, I guess. He came from a farm and misses his farm animals. He knows some commands like “come,” “sit,” and “let’s eat.” He also goes to the door and barks once when he wants outside. If you don't go right away, he barks once more. He’s had no accidents and no marking. He's too good to be true, I tell you! He gets along great with the resident kids – cats, too. He’s an all-around great guy looking for a great home. He’s still in his evaluation period, but this kid is a dream. A Little Tough Girl ...

About a week ago we were contacted by a shelter in Florida concerning a 6 month old stray wheaten girl. This little one was found by animal control roaming the streets taking care of herself. A very nice shelter worker contacted us to save her. Thanks to that kind soul this little tough girl will become a princess in no time under Col. Potter's care.
