One more City Slicker joins Col. Potter

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Providence had to wait a little bit longer to find her way to freedom than some of the other City Slickers. She had the unfortunate luck of being pregnant when the others were released and the breeding facility wouldn't let her go. Her journey was slower and longer, but the end result is the same--FREEDOM in the loving arms of Col. Potter.

She has a pretty brindle coat with lots of dark in her undercoat and will be a beauty when she is groomed. Providence weighs about 15 pounds, is friendly and relaxed.

Please help me Welcome Providence to CP!

City Slickers moved en masse in a cargo van last weekend!

Contributed by CP Intakes Team Coordinator and Transport Volunteer

How many cairns can you fit in a cargo van?

We moved 18 cairns last weekend thanks to Monika, our tireless transport volunteer from Columbia, SC. Monika embarked with 18 dogs and drove to Indianpolis, IN; Pittsburgh, PA; Washington DC, Emporia, Virginia; Charlotte, NC and finally back home to Columbia, SC. She then drove on Monday to deliver a dog to Atlanta, GA and she will bed and breakfast four of them until next weekend when they will move to FL.

Thank you for your happy thoughts for everyone involved, and there were many many people involved in making this work, that their journey was safe!

Note from Monika: Almost 3000 miles later and WE ARE HOME. Thank you for everybodys help and understanding. Also Thank you for the prayers and good wishes. The 4 remaining kids are eating dinner and are doing their potty's and then we are off to bed. Thank you everyone, I couldn't have done this without you. More later.

If you would like to volunteer to help Col. Potter with intakes or transports, we can't promise that you will get to drive a cargo van full of cairns, but we can promise that you will be a vital part of our mission to match homes in need of cairns with cairns in need of homes. THEY'RE HERE - WELCOME THE CITY SLICKERS! Part 1

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Part 1 of a 3 part series

Col. Potter stretches across the entire United States and Canada to embrace Cairns in Need. I don't have the statistics in front of me, but I would hazard to guess that we have rescued and/or adopted Cairns to just about every one of the continental 48 states, Alaska, many provinces of Canada, Puerto Rico, and I believe we just had an adoption in Mexico. It's truly amazing how far reaching Col. Potter has become!

Our latest group of Cairns to join the Col. Potter family is also one of the largest single groups to join CP at one time. This past Sunday 28 little Cairns found their way to warmth, care and a much needed bath! There are 5 more females from this group that are waiting to join CP as they are still nursing puppies or waiting to whelp. Let's keep our fingers crossed that when they are finished, they too will find their way to the loving and waiting arms of Col. Potter.

In honor of the volunteers across the country who make all of this possible, please help me Welcome the City Slickers:

Miami: Male, born 8/13/02, wheaten with black points

Atlanta: Female, born 12/5/05, wheaten with black points

Richmond: Male, born 4/21/06, wheaten

Baltimore: Male, born 7/23/02, black brindle

Newark: Female, born 3/3/09, wheaten

Syracuse: Female, born 11/8/02, wheaten with black points

Pittsburgh: Female, born 4/29/05, wheaten with black points

Detroit: Female, born 8/17/09, black brindle

Indianapolis: Male, born 3/21/06, wheaten

Some of these City Slickers have some medical issues and could sure use our good thoughts as they are vetted and receive treatment.
