UPDATE ON MAGIC AND HIS NEW LIFE AS JACK!!

Contributed by Jack's new Mom

I wanted to update you on Jack.

He is such a tiny bundle of love! He fits in well with the other dogs (once he decided to stop picking fights with the 100-pound Bullmastiff) and with my kitty-boy (once he stopped trying to hump a cat bigger than he was!) He is comfortable in his crate at night and at the hospital during the day, (and he loves to read with me at night), and always rounds up the choice toys both at home and work. He brazenly steals them from the other dogs, carries them to a safe spot that only he can fit in, and there he sits with them, like a dragon on top of his hoard!

He's now completely converted to a raw diet and really loves his food. He's also on a traditional Chinese herb formula I made up for him, plus joint support and vitamins, and he gets chiropractic adjustments every 2 weeks and infrasonic treatments weekly. I've re-radiographed his pelvis- it's still in pieces and I really have no idea how he manages to use the other hind leg, since it isn't really connected to an intact pelvis - I'm not sure that the plate he has in there is doing much. He goes to see an orthopedic surgeon friend of mine next month, and we'll get another opinion.. Despite all that, he runs and plays like a maniac, and skitters up and down stairs in the house and up and down his ramps outside. Nothing slows Jack down - neither chipmunks or deer are safe on our five acres!

At the hospital, his favorite playmate is our associate Doctor's young blind Australian Shepherd, Piper. Out of all the dogs at work, three-legged Jack and blind Piper are the two that run and tumble and play the most. Clients love to meet them and watch them play. Those two have certainly given a lot of clients with health-challenged dogs the courage and confidence to proceed with treatment! Piper competes in agility and Jack will start agility training also, next year, if he likes it enough to do so - we'll see....

Of course, he is also a lot of work - he is not really potty-trained (at least not in my home), and a belly-band doesn't work - with only one hind leg, it slides right off him! He is a SERIOUS little pee-er, and has gotten all the boys in the house in on the act, but we are working on it and are making headway. Everyone put their heads together at work, and we have come up with a "belly-band and suspenders" get-up that hooks to his collar (and works some of the time).

I hope you will check out the August column that Lizzie writes on the hospital website, There, Lizzie talks about her family, and finishes her column with news about her new family member, his background, and his friends and fans: Jack, his wonderful, caring, foster-Mom and "sisters", and all the fabulous people at Col. Potters. Here's a link to the site: May you and your family (including all furry members) be well.

JACK'S NEW LIFE IS "MAGIC-AL"

A Thank you note from Jack fka Magic

Jack and his new "Mom" with an artistic "blur"

Dere Aunties and Unkles,

Saturday was my BIG day! I got adopted! I also met my new brothers and my new sister. I was very nice to my cairn brother and sister. My new mama kept them behind a gate in her office so I could explore the rest of the place. (It's my mama's office.) I came up to the gate and said hi to them and they looked very friendly. They didn't bark at me or anything. And my mama was so excited to meet me, she could hardly stand still.

Between my wiggles and hers, it was hard to get a good picture of both of us at the same time.My new mama was surprised I was so little. She does chiropractic and she said she can help me walk straighter after she gives me an adjustment. She even gave my foster sister Cider an adjustment while we were at the clinic and Cider felt better right away. And Chopin only tried to bite her. My mama was too fast for her! My other brother is a Bull Mastiff. He's BIG! No kidding guys! He's HUGE! I'm not very big. In fact, I'm kinda little. My new brother is something like FIFTY times as big as me! OK, maybe not THAT big. He looks like he could be fun though. In fact, when he came out to meet Alice, Rachel, and Mary, I wagged my tail and showed everybody I wanted to meet him. So my new mama had Cannukke lay down and I got to get out and come up close to da big guy. (I come about halfway up his great big nose.)

I went up to my BIG brother, sniffed a couple of times, and then I gave him a scary growl and tried to bite his nose! I was VERY scary! Cannukke was afraid of me. He crawled into his mama's lap and asked her to save him from me. (he, he!) But seriously, I DO think he's going to be a fun boy to play with, once I get used to him. And mama will help me get used to him. I know it. My mama says Cannukke protects the little dogs in the family from the 'wild life' around our house, so I'm glad he'll be around. After my mamas signed the papers and talked about food, and fences, and harnesses, it was time for my foster family to go.

Mama and I stood by the front door (my mama was holding me) and she helped me wave goodbye to mama and Alice and Rachel and Mary as they drove away. That was the picture we should have got. I was my cutest then.Anyway, I've taken too much of your time already. I just wanted to thank everybody for all of your help.

I got a great family now. She's the bestest and I couldn't have done it without you!

MAGIC SAYS THANK YOU!!

Written by Magic's Foster Mom

Mr Magic is forever grateful to all of his admirers that have donated so generously to his recovery. If ever a boy felt loved, this one does. He is recovering quite nicely, as a matter of fact. He is one of the happiest little dogs I have ever seen. He LOVES his TOYS (especially the skunk he recently received in the mail.

Whenever I survey the room for toy pick up after all the kids have gone to bed, I can tell exactly where Magic has been that evening. There will be a pile of 6 or 7 toys, then a bare spot, then another pile of toys, then another bare spot, etc. He goes outside with the other kids to do his business and then he RUNS back inside to play with his TOYS again. From the back sliding door he has to run through the livingroom and kitchen, make practically a U-turn, and then run through the breakfast room, down a couple of steps and into the familyroom. He had to learn to navigate that U-turn with only one back leg. The first couple of times, he was so excited, his backleg came right out from under him as he went around the curve! Of course that didn't stop him. He had TOYS to get to, so he just kept on going. He got his leg underneath him again eventually and now he takes that corner like a pro, with barely a slip.

He's starting to make friends with my pack, too. Cider was play-bowing to him in the backyard the other morning and Stewart and Katie were playing with him, too. Even Chopin will allow him to stand by her without fussing. In the backyard, he runs along with the others as they chase up and down the yard. Besides TOYS, Magic likes sitting on your feet under the kitchen table, getting bellyrubs and snuggles, making breakfast with Mary or Rachel, lots of one on one time with his hoomans, bringing you toys to play with him, Stella and Chewy's, and duck jerky..

As long as we can keep him in TOYS, he's good!

Thanks to all of you who are his guardian angels and you will be happy to know that all of his expenses were covered. The volunteer who has kept these pages updated is seriously ill and her replacement is in the process of acknowledging and updating the page with the donation information.

NEW "TAILS" AND PICTURES OF MAGIC!

Written by Magic's Foster Mom

Last week, we introduced Mr. Magic to the hellions at my house. We always introduce in the backyard, one at a time. He greeted each kid with a happy smile and a wagging butt. He's an awfully friendly little guy and tends to rush up in the kids faces, so I wanted to take this one slowly.

Maggie is usually first to meet the new kids. She gave Magic a couple of sharp words when he got too close and he was a good boy and backed off. Then came Stewart. That was a non-issue. Stewart's SO laid back and much bigger than Magic. They all thought his butt was a little weird, but they were accepting. Katie thought he had potential. After all, he looked playful and he's 'her size'! Cider carefully inspected and thoroughly sniffed his butt. Cider is our resident mill mama. Magic, just like every other kid we've had through here, recognized her 'right' to make a full inspection and stood quietly and waited until she was done.

Then he decided he wanted to explore the yard. He jumped off the deck onto the walkway, but instead of walking down the walkway and getting down on the grass the easy way, he turned and jumped straight off from the highest part of the walk! (I call it 'Walking the plank.") He was so happy when he reached the grass, touching it for the first time in at least 5 weeks. He rolled and smiled and wiggled for joy!

Finally it was time for him to meet Chopin. She and new kids don't always get along. She and Magic circled each other carefully. Then Chopin found Magic's butt. She took one look at it, sniffed furiously, and then looked up at me and said, "Mom! You said I had a birth defect, but WOW! have you SEEN this boy's BUTT? I'm normal compared to him!"

Now he goes out with the kids every time they do. And since he can go out, he's keeping his pen clean. Sometimes, when he goes out, he hurries out, 'walks the plank,' and stops for a loooong time to 'relieve himself.' Then he runs up to explore the raspberries, over to the gate to play in the lilies where Maggie's made a 'wallow' for her dust baths, poops, and then runs happily back to me when I call. As the other kids go by, he runs after them to join in their fun. He's using his back foot quite well now. His front feet run straight, but his back end tends to curve around when he runs, so he ends up running kind of sideways, like a crab. Then he'll throw himself down in the cool grass with a big smile on his face.

Last week I talked to the vet that performed Magic's surgery. He told me something very interesting. He said that along with Magic's right rear leg being crushed, which resulted in its amputation, his left rear leg had suffered a great deal of nerve damage as well. We learned with Casatta that when nerves heal, they have to heal back up to the spinal chord and then back down again and they only heal 1 millimeter a day. It's a slow process. Most dogs that lose a leg need to learn how to balance on one leg, but Magic had to regain sensation in his leg again, learn to walk on it again, AND learn to balance with only one leg in back. That's why he wasn't using his leg much at first. He could feel it. As he has regained sensation, he's using it more and more every day. He's not very fast, but he sure enjoys running and playing!

Thank you for continuing to participate in his recovery and follow his amazing story. If you would like to become one of his guardian angels, you can follow this link. Please be aware that the donations and names are in the process of being updated and caught up as the dedicated volunteer who has done this is very ill and her replacement is working hard to complete the task.

UPDATE ON MAGIC! SEE HIM WALKING!

Written by Magic's Foster Mom

Here's another update on Magic. He's started using his back leg some and he's got the cutest little dance when we come into his room. I took a couple of movies and some pictures of Magic on his 'magic' blanket from Auntie Carol.

All of his stitches are out and he's finished with all of his medications. Now he needs time for his body to heal. I can see improvements in his behavior already. I can tell he's not hurting as much. He's also started to put on weight and his backbone and ribs aren't sticking out as much. There are a couple of close-ups of his incisions at the end of his pictures.

Here's the link to his new pictures.

Here's the link to a movie to show you how he's walking.

And here's a link to a movie showing his happy dance.

This boy is a toy HOUND! He absolutely loves them. He's also a cuddle bug. When I pick him up he pushes his head up under my ear and wraps his body tightly around my neck. He just wants to be as close as possible.

He's so interactive, too. We bring him out at night, after the rest of the kids have gone to bed. We spread out some toys and sit on the floor with him. He checks out all of his toys and then picks one to bring to one of us. Then he flops on his back for belly rubs with his little white paws in the air. Then up to find another toy to bring over, chew on a bit and then share with one of us.

This boy's a sweetheart and always smiling! Enjoy the pictures and movies!

We will update the page with the donations that have been made as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and your continued support of Magic in his recovery.

UPDATE ON MAGIC!

Written by Magic's Foster Mom

Magic is doing great. He's starting to feel better. I can tell, because he's getting stir crazy. He wants to follow me out of his expen and complains long and loud about not getting to come out and play with the other kids. :-)

Monday we got his stitches out from his amputation and his neuter. The incision for the amputation is about 5 inches long, so there were lots of stitches. He was a good boy for the vet, laying on his back, wagging his tail and getting tummy scritches from the vet tech. Friday we will go back to get his stitches removed where they inserted the plate to support his pelvis.

The first thing the vet said to me after looking at the xrays was, "I understand why they amputated his leg." All three of the bones in his leg were broken. His pelvis on that side was crushed, too. The plate is on the opposite side of his pelvis, to support the remaining leg. He hadn't used that rear leg much when we went to the vet. She says the whole pelvis is still healing and it probably hurts to use it, so to give it time. Just today I noticed he's putting it down more and 'pushing off' with it when he walks.

It's incredible how he manages. He can stand on his two front feet and hold his back straight, parallel with the ground, just using the muscles in his back. When he's working to get something out of his food bowl, he can raise his rear end in the air so his body is at a 45 degree angle!

He's still very happy, especially if you pick him up and cuddle him. I gave him a blue fabric octopus with a squeaker in it. He holds it by one of the tentacles and carries it to his bed. When I come in his room, he grabs his octopus and brings it over to me to play. I toss it in his bed and his climbs in, picks it up, and brings it back to me. He loves his octopus!

He's also figured out how to fish his clavamox out of the cheese ball. It's the biggest pill he has and we're splitting it now. It makes it harder to find and he'll swallow the cheese balls right down if they're that size.

Please click here to go to Magic’s Guardian Angel page if you would like to make a donation. Thank you for your continued interest and support for his recovery!

MAGIC IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME!

Written by Magic's Foster Mom

Magic Likes his new "digs"

He is a sweet, cheerful boy who likes to give kisses. He eats well and piddles on his pads. He tries to get up and move around, especially when you come in his room to visit him. I left his door open most of the day because my kids were napping. When I looked in on him, Magic would be in his bed or looking out the window. He would come to me with his tail wagging, asking for lovings. He's still favoring his rear leg and hardly puts any weight on it. When I pick him up, he likes to have his bottom cradled in my hands. I think it provides him some support, because he relaxes as soon as I do it and presses his shoulders and head into my neck.

Thanks for all of your help, everyone! Keep those prayers and donations coming. He certainly is a cutie pie and he's doing his very best to get better soon!

PHOTOS OF MAGIC AT THE VET IN KENTUCKY BEFORE HE LEFT FOR HIS FOSTER HOME YESTERDAY!

Contributed by Jan D.

I ran by the Woodford Vet before Magic left for his St. Louis foster home yesterday, to wish him a good life. He seemed comfortable and kept rolling over for belly rubs. On behalf of STAR and Diana & Darrel C. who found Magic, we can't thank the Colonel Potter Rescue enough for coming up with the resources to save this little guy. He is a miracle dog and I know that God has been watching out for him! Good luck to all!

Please share Magic's story along with the link to our Guardian Angel page. When you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find the donation form to complete and submit.

MAGIC - FINAL UPDATE!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

What a journey ... a Magical Mystery Tour if you will!

Magic has gone from a little Cairn struggling to hang on to life to one that is now grabbing life with all three paws he has left! The mangled and crushed leg has now been amputated. The shattered pelvis has been repaired. The troubling liver values on the ALT and Albumin are finally perfect. The damaged liver, intestines, stomach and all the other internal organs that suffered such severe trauma are healing. The road burned skin is showing signs of improving. And the attitude and will to live in this little Cairn has remained unwavering -- truly Magic!

He has touched and amazed everyone he has come in contact with including the seasoned and experienced surgical team and staff at the vet. They couldn't believe some of the things he was doing despite the injuries and pain and how quickly and well he is recovering. This boy had quite a few tricks up his sleeve, or should I say his paw, to show them!

Magic is now up and walking around following surgery, although he seems to prefer walking on his front two legs and ignoring the rear one for now. But, with therapy and exercise, he should once again find use for that rear leg especially when chasing critters - only from the safety of a fenced yard of course!

Please feel free to share Magic's incredible story along with the link to our Guardian Angel page. When you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find the donation form to complete and submit.

This is my last update on Magic because he's moving to his foster home today, so from here on out once he arrives you will be getting updates from his foster mom. But, before I turn Magic over, I hope you will bear with me as I have quite a few THANK YOUs I would like to acknowledge.

First, to the lady who literally scooped up Magic's shattered and broken body from the pavement -- THANK YOU! Then to the local rescue group who took Magic to the vet immediately for treatment for shock and pain meds to stabilize him, then went looking for rescue help for Magic and then taking him to the surgeon the following day to get the process started -- THANK YOU! To Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network for quickly and positively replying to my urgent message to see if we could help Magic before he was put to sleep -- THANK YOU!

Without the wonderful surgeon and the entire vet staff in Lexington, KY Magic would not be here today. They did a wonderful job of explaining everything, giving us our options, taking their time to insure that Magic could withstand the trauma more surgery would cause to his body, for their skill and caring and always keeping us informed -- THANK YOU! We often say Col. Potter is a family and a family takes care of their own. Nothing could be more true! Without your support and generosity, there would have been no Magic -- THANK YOU! To Sharon and Nick M. who have visited Magic during his hospitalization and provided pictures and updates. Today, Nick will pick-up Magic from the vet and start him on his journey to the rest of his life -- THANK YOU! Finally to Stacey W. and her girls who will be fostering Magic and helping him through his recovery and therapy period. Yes, it really is going to happen! Magic will really be home with you tonight -- THANK YOU!

Magicians use slight of hand, mirrors and illusions to thrill and captivate their audiences. One little Cairn boy named Magic thrilled and captivated his audience with his determination, attitude and will to live. Of course, that adorable little face didn't hurt anything either. I've attached one more picture of Magic shortly after he was struck by the car. Take a good look at Magic in this picture and remember him, for the next pictures you see of Magic will be of a happy, proud Cairn standing on all THREE legs at his foster home!

MAGIC IS OUT OF SURGERY AND HE IS DOING VERY WELL!!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Magic is out of surgery and he did just GREAT!

The surgeon didn't find anything more than what the xrays had shown or what he had expected. Magic's pelvis has now had a plate pinned to it to support and brace the pelvis where it had been fractured in the four places. He will be monitored very closely tonight to keep him off that leg and allow his body to once again catch up to even further trauma caused by the surgery. Tomorrow will be a day of rest and healing for Magic.

Then the rehabilitation and therapy will begin, slowly at first, with just allowing Magic to stand on his repaired pelvis and leg for the first week and then gradually increasing after that. It's been two weeks since the accident, he literally hasn't used any of his legs for that length of time. Even the front legs that weren't injured will also need to slowly regain their strength and stamina from muscles that have atrophied.

But, the WORST IS NOW BEHIND MAGIC! He has certainly lived up to his name and continues to amaze all that he touches.

Please remember that Magic continues to need your support of him as a Guardian Angel. Without this CP program, we would not have been able to say YES to Magic. There would have been no one to help Magic get the medical and surgical care he needed and his story today would be far different ... You can become a Guardian Angel for Magic by clicking here .

Just in case you forgot what that sweet little face looks like, I've attached a picture taken last week following Magic's amputation surgery by the Angel who picked up Magic from the road where he laid broken and hurt. She took this picture when when she visited him at the vet's office.

MAGIC IS HEADED TO SURGERY AGAIN!!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Magic will be heading into surgery in the next hour or so. Surgery will take approximately 2 hours and then recovery time. I will post early this evening how he did in surgery.

This surgery will be to repair the 4 fractures to his pelvis by plating and pinning it. Once this surgery is completed, he will be able to start healing and starting his life anew!

PLEASE SEND POSITIVE THOUGHTS, ENERGY AND PRAYERS TO MAGIC AND THE SURGEON that the surgery is successful and goes well!!!

NO SURGERY TODAY FOR MAGIC...

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Magic continues to do well, but his albumin level has dropped again and the surgeon wants to wait until it comes back up before doing such a long and involved surgery.

Other than that, Magic continues to do well and amaze all that come in contact with him. I was joking with the surgeon yesterday that if they weren't careful, they would have to tie Magic down as he would be up and walking around on his three legs even with the broken pelvis. The surgeon kind of laughed and said he didn't think that would be happening until after surgery. WELL GUESS WHAT! Today, while the vet tech was cleaning his kennel and had him moved to one side, she looked up to see Magic walking around and trying to get out! Can't say I didn't warn them!

We'll check his liver values again tomorrow, and if that albumin goes back up, we may do surgery tomorrow. It's a day by day check at this point as we don't want to do anything to set Magic back any further after he's come so far. So keep those thoughts and prayers coming for Magic who has shown the vet staff a few of his own magical tricks already!

Magic had a VERY GOOD day today!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

The surgeon is very pleased with the obvious improvement in Magic today and can see a difference in him since the amputation of his leg yesterday. He looks much brighter, peppier, animated and appears to feel better. Magic is eating well and has had no vomiting today!

Today was also a special day for Magic as he had visitors! He has fast become a vet staff favorite and is a very sweet, friendly and loving little boy even when he was in so much pain and so heavily medicated. I'm told that he gives sweet little kisses and is always wagging his tail to draw someone's attention. But, today Magic had not one, not two, but three special visitors. Our own Sharon M. stopped in for a visit and some lovin' with Magic, also the local rescue lady who contacted CP to help Magic stopped in to visit and his true rescue angel who found Magic after the accident and called for help stopped in to visit him. This is certainly one popular little guy and one who really enjoyed ALL the attention today!!

Hopefully, if Magic continues to do well and his blood panel looks good tomorrow, he will have the second surgery to repair his pelvis. I won't know for sure until tomorrow morning, but it looks promising. Please keep Magic in your thoughts and prayers that he continues to show his true Cairn spirit and the "Magic" continues.

Sharon was nice enough to share a picture she took of Magic today. Just look at that precious little face. I just know he has a few more tricks up his sleeve ... or should I say paw!

*MAGIC SURGERY UPDATE!*

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Magic came through the amputation surgery with flying colors!!! He is awake, alert and resting comfortably following surgery.

The surgeon reported to me that we absolutely made the correct decision to amputate rather than try and repair Magic's right rear leg. During the amputation he was able to determine that absolutely none of the arteries in Magic's leg were still capable of carrying any blood. The only blood the leg was receiving was through the cappilleries. Magic's body was working hard to sustain and heal that leg when there was absolutely no chance of that ever happening. The hope is now all that healing energy will be transferred to other parts of his body. The longer that damaged leg remained, the greater the chance of infection or gangrene setting in. He's at a much better place in his overall recovery process now due to the amputation.

Magic will be monitored closely tomorrow and his liver function values will once again be tested. If all looks good, the hope is that the repair of the pelvis can take place on Friday. That surgery will take much longer than the amputation today and will be more involved, so it is important that Magic be as healthy and strong as possible.

Please feel free to share Magic's story with your friends, family, coworkers and other groups you may be a member of along with the link to his Guardian Angel listing. Every dollar will help to insure Magic continues to receive all of the medical care and follow-ups he will need now and throughout his recuperation and rehabiliation.

Please click here for the link to Magic's Guardian Angel page or here to our sponsor a cairn page.

Our Magic has made it past the first surgical hurdle and is living up to his name, but I know it's because of all the Cairn and Guardian Angels looking down on him and your unwavering thoughts, prayers and support. Please don't stop now ... let's keep it going for Magic!

Magic is Going in for Surgery!

Written by CP'S VP of Intakes

OK everyone, our boy Magic needs all of your thoughts, positive energy and prayers now!

I just spoke with the surgeon and Magic is at a point that the leg that needs to be amputated is probably hampering healing to the rest of his body. His ALT levels are down nicely, but his Albumin has now once again dropped. His vomiting is greatly reduced and he ate some solid food again yesterday. It's the crossroad of taking the chance of putting him under anesthesia to amputate the leg so all of his healing powers can go to the parts of his body that really need it, or waiting longer to see if the liver can work even harder at healing itself while his body is also trying to the heal the leg that can't be saved. We've decided to go ahead with the surgery to amputate his right leg today. The surgery will only take about 30 minutes and the surgeon will call me when it's done and I will let you know.

PLEASE keep Magic in your thoughts and prayers today ...

Tuesday's Update on OUR Injured Boy - He's a CP Kid!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

It is my honor and privilege to introduce you to a new member of the CP family ... a little boy who has withstood more than any little Cairn ever should, a little boy who has demonstrated a Cairn spirit and will to survive, a little boy who has needed A LOT of Cairn "Magic" to make it to this point ... and so what better name for this little Cairn boy but ... Magic!

He officially became a CP kid on Sunday with the receipt of his release from the local rescue group along with a lot of thanks and gratitude from them for all that CP was able and willing to do for him.

His ALT levels have dropped substantially, while his Albumin level has increased -- both a sign that his liver is healing itself from the trauma it suffered. Right now he is fighting some gastric upset which was expected, due to the medications and pain killers he is taking. His vomiting has lessened today and the surgeon's hope is that by tomorrow it will be to a point that it is safe to perform the first surgery on Magic without danger of him choking on his own vomit while under anesthesia.

Magic will have to undergo two separate surgeries on two separate days. The damage to his right rear leg is so severe and has caused such extensive nerve damage that he has absolutely no feeling or movement in that leg. The first surgery will be to amputate Magic's right rear leg. Assuming that surgery is successful and there are no negative side effects to Magic, then hopefully he will undergo the second surgery two days later to repair the pelvis which is fractured in 4 places by plating and pinning it.

As you can imagine, these surgeries will not be easy on Magic and he will once again have to draw upon his Cairn spirit, his will to survive and that Cairn "Magic" to get through these surgeries. The medical procedures for Magic, along with his care leading up to the surgeries and following them are quite expensive. Please visit our Guardian Angel page where you will find Magic, along with a listing of all our other Guardian Angel kids. It provides details of how you can help support Magic with his medical needs. If you would like to help Magic, please click the following link: I'll Be Magic's Guardian Angel!

How many of you know the story of how Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network came to be? How many of you know there was a young male Cairn named Col. Potter? How many of you know that Col. Potter ran out into the street right in front of his family's home and was struck by a car? Col. Potter wasn't as lucky as Magic ... he died before they could even get him to the vet. Somehow I think Col. Potter is looking down on Magic and helping him achieve a different fate than he had.

Tomorrow is going to be a very important day for Magic and in addition to Col. Potter watching over him, Magic can definitely use your prayers, positive thoughts and energy that he will be stabilized enough for the amputation surgery to be performed and for it to be successful. I won't know until the surgeon calls me tomorrow if it's a go for surgery, but I will post as soon as I do know. Please keep Magic foremost in your thoughts and visit his Guardian Angels listing to support his medical expenses. I've posted his photos previously, but I've attached one of them as a reminder of his sweet face saying THANK YOU for giving him a chance ...
