Spring Weeds Popping Up In CP

Written by the CP VP of Intakes

Spring is a time when the many different varieties and colors of weeds start dotting the landscape. Generally, weeds are a very hardy plant and can survive in places and times when other plants can't. In many ways, dogs at commercial breeding facilities are like weeds. They survive in harsh conditions with little care. Unfortunately, only the strong, the hardy survive.

Last week eight hardy little Cairns made their way out of a breeding facility and into CP. These little Cairns currently look a little thorny like many weeds, but with time, patience and love they will change right before your very eyes from thorny weeds to beautiful flowers!

While these eight made it out alive, I do have to tell you about a mom and her three babies, only a week old, who were supposed to be a part of this group. They were so very close to making it to freedom and CP's loving arms, but they just weren't strong enough. They now will forever bloom together as a family at the Rainbow Bridge.

Please help me welcome CP's Spring Weeds:

Dandelion: Male, black brindle

Sorrel: Female, wheaten

Spurges: Male, wheaten

Filaree: Female, wheaten

Purslane: Female, wheaten

Kochia: Female, black brindle

Chicory: Female, wheaten

Nettle: Female, red wheaten

Please remember that your support of the A New Leash on Life fundraiser makes it possible to help groups like the Spring Weeds. I can't think of a better way to honor the mom and puppies that were so close, yet so far away from freedom ...Click here to participate in the A New Leash on Life fundraiser.
