We were contacted by a shelter that we work with on a regular basis about a little Cairn they felt would do better going to rescue than being adopted out of the shelter. Many times this means they have health or behavior issues. NOT THIS TIME! A family had purchased him from a local pet store who is supplied and owned by the large puppy selling corporation based out of Missouri. (You know, the one that ships dogs in large semi-trailers to their stores.) After just a few weeks, they decided he had too much energy and was too much for them to handle. Well, DUH, he's a Cairn puppy ... They surrendered him to the shelter.
We got him picked up from the shelter pronto not wanting to expose him to any of the health issues that can be present in a shelter environment because of his age. My thanks to the Col. Potter volunteers who moved so quickly to get this little boy to safety and the new foster home he will be headed to.
And now, may I present Buckeye, an absolutely adorable little boy, born 1/7/10 which means he just celebrated his 4 month birthday!! Welcome little Buckeye and this won't be the last birthday you'll be celebrating safe and loved!
