Geordi La Forge and Vana recently graced CP

Written by a CP intakes volunteer

Because of some unhappy events in their home life, these two little cairn siblings found themselves in need of a new home. And their daddy took special care to see that they were placed with the best possible people...meaning Col. Potter, of course.

Geordi La Forge is described as a sweet, somewhat shy, 11-year-old brindle gentleman.

Vana is a beautiful spirited 12-year-old wheaten lady.

These two distinguished "kids" are such a classy addition to our family--lets give them both a big CP Welcome!

Loira jons the Col. Potter familly!

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Loira--which means light--is surely going to be a light in someone’s life! Her story thus far is a sad one. After 12 years of together, Loira's elderly owner fell on her, dislocating Loira’s hip. The owner took her to the vet to have the needed surgery and paid for her care. The owner realized she could no longer care for Loira so she relinquished Loira to the vet’s office. They contacted Col. Potter to see if we could take Loira and help find her a good home. We were able to jump in and say YES we can help. Now Loira has a chance to have a happy ending to her story!

We can not help cairns like Loira and others without the help of all the volunteers that do so much and give financially to Col. Potter. Please continue to give so that we can keep helping cairns in need!!

Macallan Joins CP!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

I'd like to introduce Macallan, our newest intake into Col. Potter. Macallan came to this family as a rescue to have as a pet for their 12 year old daughter. Even though he was 12 years old, a tad blind, slow moving and had some medical problems, they opened their hearts and home to this little boy.

However, Macallan never moved as quick as when he was chasing their 5 rescued cats. Most of the owner's cats were fast enough to escape Macallan's advances, but there was one older cat in this home that just loved to taunt Macallan. One day Ms. Taunting was coming inside through the cat door and Macallan saw his chance. The poor puddy cat couldn't maneuver fast enough to get away, and thankfully no one got hurt, but this was enough to worry the Owners into finding a new home for Macallan.

They contacted Col. Potter, and now Macallan, our sweet, older puddy cat chaser, will be in the warm and loving care of his foster home, which incidentally doesn't have any cats.

Welcome Mr. Hampton!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Please help me welcome sweet Mr. Hampton, in the way best fitting a distinguished gentleman!

Mr. Hampton is a senior gentleman, age 12, who unfortunately found himself the resident of an Animal Care facility, in his golden years. While he should be spending his retirement settled in his home, surrounded by his loving family, that wasn't to be. Yet he handled himself with dignity, remaining sweet and calm, although surely he must have been confused and frightened. He probably wasn't feeling too well either, desperately in need of a dental, and passing blood in his urine. But that didn't give him cause to worry.

Kathie R. met dear Hampton when she picked him up from Animal Care to bring him to the vet. By this time he had also developed a cough. But he cuddled right into her hug, and didn't want to be put down. He accepted some food with his medicine hidden inside, and allowed the bowl to be removed even with food remaining.

A gentleman. Now a part of the CP family. A lucky gent indeed!

Mr. Hampton, it is an honor to make your acquaintance! Welcome to Col. Potter's family.

A Happy Ending for Queen Ranee!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

This is a sad story with a very happy ending for this 12 year old cairn. We were contacted by a friend of an owner that had cancer and had to give up her cairn. The friend took Queen Ranee and contacted Col. Potter to help find her a forever home. This wasn't the first time this girl had to find a home, she was originally a stray that the friend had found 5 years ago. Her friend with cancer became her owner after they were not able to find her previous owner. For 5 years she had a great home but, lost it by no fault of her own.

Now the great news is that we had an approved home that was looking for just the right cairn to add to her family and when she heard about Queen Ranee and read her information she said that she sounded like the perfect match! She is now in PA being fostered and I know we'll soon be seeing an adoption contact. This is a win win for both Queen Ranee and this home. When Queen Ranee got off the plane and I received the phone call that she was there I could hear the love in the voice on the other end. Queen Ranee is home.

Thanks so much to all the volunteers that made this possible, you know who you are! We could not do what we do without you all volunteering and giving donations! THANKS!
