Welcome Reagan!

Please welcome this adorable little 5 year old cairn girl. She just had a birthday a few days ago. Reagan was very well loved and well taken care of, but due to health issues her mom decided she needed to find a better life for her little girl than she could provide--one where Reagan could be around active people and other dogs, take walks and maybe go to the dog park occasionally. So Reagan is now a Col. Potter girl and happily secured at her foster home.

Introducing Zeppo!

This 9 yr old cairn boy was surrendered to a shelter by his owners because the husband was very ill and they were unable to care for him. When he was in danger of being PTS, the shelter reached out and Col. Potter answered the call.

While Zeppo looks quite forlorn in his photo, he is reported to be a very handsome, happy and friendly boy. In fact, he was so excited when he was being rescued he barked with joy!

Zeppo is currently at the vet for his spa treatment and will join his foster home next week.

Introducing Malabar!

Malabar lived her whole life with an elderly owner and two cats. For seven years she was loved and vetted. A few weeks ago her owner became ill and was taken to the hospital. It was soon realized the owner could not provide a healthy environment for Malabar any longer and she was seized by the County and given to the local animal shelter. Malabar is confused and lonely, but making strides in her new surroundings.

Welcome to CP Bryant!

Bryant spent the first 10 years of his life with a back yard breeder. When he was no longer able to complete his job, he was given to an elderly woman. This new owner kept him outside, in a back yard pen. Poor Bryant, he went from one back yard to another. Within months, Bryant's new owner fell on ill health, and CP was asked to take him into the rescue. Reportedly, Bryant is a friendly little man, and good with children and other dogs.

Welcome Trudel!

Trudel is a senior girl who was her owners beloved pet since she was a puppy, but as she grew older, so did her owners. Trudel had to first deal with one of her owners passing. And if that wasn't bad enough, her other owner was then forced to move to an apartment due to age and health where she could not take Trudel along. The owner found a couple to take Trudel in, but it was not meant to be her forever home due to changes in the couples' situation. Trudel's original owner was contacted and she immediately went to work finding a friend to keep Trudel for a few days while she contacted Col. Potter for help.

The plea for help with Trudel came in about a week before Thanksgiving......not much time and close to a holiday when everyone is so busy. But as always our wonderful CP volunteers rose to the challenge, from Trudel's foster home to the transporters and the person who B&B'd her. Plus a few others that stepped up to help if the need arose. Trudel and I Thank You!!!

Welcome Calla!

This lovely little lady recently became a CP girl. She's just as beautiful as the Calla Lily she’s named after.

Calla is 10 years old and found herself in need of a new home when her owner could no longer care for her. Don’t worry, little girl, Col Potter will find a wonderful new home for you!

Welcome Two Little Girls!

Today after going to the Dr. we took a side trip to pick up two girls who had fallen on hard times. Their Mom died and their Dad was put into a nursing home. The kids did not want the cairns so here they are!

Please Welcome the Thanksgiving Pies!

Col. Potter was contacted by a woman who suffered a serious of strokes and was no longer able to care for her four cairns. She was heartbroken at the thought of giving them up. Yet in addition to physically not being able to care for them, she was unable to work, therefore unable to always provide enough food and medical care for them. So she made the very difficult decision to give them a chance at a better life. She selflessly contacted CPCRN, and after being reassured that we would find homes that loved her babies as much as she did, she agreed to surrender them. This was not easy for her, and in speaking with her I could hear the love in her voice.

We welcome the four Thanksgiving Pies. We give thanks that they have been put first, and that we were able to help.

A Happy Ending for Queen Ranee!

This is a sad story with a very happy ending for this 12 year old cairn. We were contacted by a friend of an owner that had cancer and had to give up her cairn. The friend took Queen Ranee and contacted Col. Potter to help find her a forever home. This wasn't the first time this girl had to find a home, she was originally a stray that the friend had found 5 years ago. Her friend with cancer became her owner after they were not able to find her previous owner. For 5 years she had a great home but, lost it by no fault of her own.

Now the great news is that we had an approved home that was looking for just the right cairn to add to her family and when she heard about Queen Ranee and read her information she said that she sounded like the perfect match! She is now in PA being fostered and I know we'll soon be seeing an adoption contact. This is a win win for both Queen Ranee and this home. When Queen Ranee got off the plane and I received the phone call that she was there I could hear the love in the voice on the other end. Queen Ranee is home.

Heeere's WESTIN!

Westin is now a Col. Potter kid. Sweet Westin's Mom was moved into a nursing home, and her daughter could not take him into her home. She contacted Col. Potter, hoping that we would take him and find him a great new home. She said that out of all the things she needed to do after her Mom went into the nursing home, this was the most difficult. However, she knew that we would love Westin, care for him, and find him a wonderful forever.

Please welcome Westin, and send good thoughts to the family that loved him enough to find Col Potter.

Welcome Back Hetty! Written By Her Foster Family

Welcome Hetty back to our family! She is a 14.3 pound black brindle female who was one of the "Atlanta Braves" kids (Betemit) and adopted in September 2006. She has found her way back into our loving arms due to her owner’s health problems. Her owner was forced to make the difficult decision of doing what was best for Hetty, a truly unselfish act of love.

We are so happy to see her again and she appears to be happy, healthy, and very comfortable with us already. She joined our family late Saturday night and instantly seemed to know where she was and who we were. She has to adjust to living with 6 other cairns now as she was an only dog in her prior home. We are so sorry to have her returned to us under sad circumstances, but couldn't be happier about having her in our lives once again. Our search for the final "Forever Home" for Hetty, is underway and your prayers for bringing her Mom peace, would be appreciated. Welcome back my friend Hetty!
