Welcome Ritzy!

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

This darling little 3 year old cairn became a CP kid today! Her family loved her very much and spent lots of time to make sure she was a wonderful little companion – well socialized and well trained. When the family started growing, Ritzy was having a difficult time adjusting to the new little members in the household, so her mom contacted us for help in finding her a new family.

Ritzy’s name was chosen to honor and thank another Ritzy’s mom – Monika - for her many years of volunteering with Col Potter and helping countless little cairns on their journey to a new and better life.

Welcome Ritzy!

Introducing Kristen

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Kirstin came to us as an owner surrender who's children had moved back home with her. They had a 6 yr old daughter who did not understand how to treat a little cairn. The owner decided to turn Kirstin over to Col. Potter for a better life.

Kirstin is very sweet and wags her tail at everyone she meets. She's a little over weight at 3 yrs of age, but with great care from her foster mom she will get back to a healthy weight.

Please give Kirstin a warm welcome. She is now with her foster mom and seems to be doing great.

Please welcome Gustav!

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Can you imagine being on the street, all on your own, no identification, no collar or harness, and no money to buy a burger?

That's the situation Gustav found himself in. No one knows how he became a wanderer, whether he was a stray or someone dropped him off in a neighborhood to fend for himself. Being a hungry and smart young cairn, Gustav surveyed the neighborhood deciding who would be best to help him. He saw a house where some happy dogs lived with a nice lady. AHA - that's where I'm going!! Gustav kept showing up at the same house every day until he convinced the kind lady he needed help. This wonderful Samaritan did everything possible to find his owners. No microchip, no answer to all the ads and found dog posters--no one was looking for him. The local authorities had no reports of a lost cairn.

Our wonderful Col. Potter rescue team contacted the caretaker in case rescue was needed. As time went on and no one came for him, the caretaker decided Gustav needed the help only CP could provide for wayward cairns.

Gustav is thought to be about 3 years old, knows some commands--sit, down, stay, and is a cute, furry boy. He's energetic and enjoys long walks. Gustav has come in from the streets and is looking for a forever home where he will be treated like a king. Please welcome Gustav!

Introducing Esme and Arie

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Esme and Arie lived with their 2 litter mates and their owners since birth, 3 wonderful years. They were loved, vetted, trained, exercised, well taken care of. One day a certified letter came to this happy household; it seems the city where this pack lived had a 4 dog limit.

Heartbroken, their owner was forced to give up two of his beloved cairns. Knowing the cairn spirit and knowing that cairns need to be with “cairn people”, he choose Col. Potter to find Esme and Arie the correct forever home.

Esme

Arie

Let’s all give Esme and Arie a warm CP welcome!

Be Still My Heart - Jerico's in town

Once in a while a young cairn finds their way to Col. Potter that is just beautiful!! Or handsome as the case may be! Jerico is a 3 year old boy who due to family circumstances became a Col. Potter kid. He's young, healthy and drop dead gorgeous! He has a sweet nature and loves to snuggle. He has a coat of many colors with a haunting dark face. He's not just a pretty face, he's also athletic. He loves to play ball but unlike many cairns, Jerico will bring the ball BACK to you!

And before you all beg to be his foster home, he's should be arriving at his foster home any minute to charm the household! Please welcome Jerico to Col. Potter and a new life.

Introducing Malka

Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Malka is a 3 year old typical cairn princess that made her way to freedom last year. Her current owners found it difficult to handle a 3 year old cairn and a 3 year old human child within the same household. Col. Potter was asked to find Malka a new home.

Please give a great big CP welcome to Malka!

Welcome Aponi to the CP family!

Written by an Intakes volunteer

Aponi is a 3 year old female. "Aponi" means butterfly. This little one has skin problems, as you can see from her picture. One of the transport volunteers said she is beautiful and sweet - one that would be tempting to keep. However, the volunteer said that the skin issues are very noticeable.

Aponi is now with her foster mommy who is going to give her lots of tender loving care, get her skin feeling better and help her grow a beautiful coat. This one will be ready for her own family very soon.

While our little Aponi might not yet be a beautiful butterfly, we know that with lots of love and care she will be soon. Please give Aponi a big warm welcome to the Col. Potter family!

Welcome LACH and LORNA to the CP Family!

Written by a CP Intakes Team Coordinator

Lach

Lorna

These two have special names for friends of the foster mom. She has Scottish friends named Lach and his beautiful wife Lorna. To her the names epitomize the Scottish qualities of strength and beauty.

I’m sure that strength is what has kept these two going and their beauty will shine through more and more each day that they are loved and cared for by their special foster mom. They are both 3 years old and loving every day of life now.

Welcome Lach and Lorna!

Welcome Towsy and Wullie to CP!!

Written by CP Intakes Team Coordinator

Towsy

Wullie

Please welcome our two newest furballs to CP! Towsy means "untidy" and that she was, when she was first brought in. She and her buddy, Wullie, were both filthy dirty and had lots of mats! Towsy is 3 years old and has a cauliflower ear from chronic, untreated ear infections. Wullie, which is the Scottish form of 'Willie', is just one years old.

They both have been getting all jazzed up at the vet this week and are ready for foster care now. The vet's office has made many comments on how nice these kids are. They are so sweet.

Hello Cormick!

Please join me in saying hello to another new Col. Potter kid! Cormick is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. Sometimes life changes disrupt our world and that's what happened to Cormick. He was a much loved boy. He's 3 years old, 19 lbs., wheaten with cute dark ears, housebroken, good with kids & dogs but doesn't care for those cats! He loves bath & playing ball. Cormick is one overall good boy.

He came to CP on Saturday and enjoyed the company of Marie F. and her furkids. Marie gave him a bath so he would be all fresh and handsome for meeting his foster mom. He is Jana P’s first foster!!! A huge thanks to Marie for helping Cormick make the trip to Col. Potter. Welcome to Col. Potter Cormick! Somebody needs to tell Jana about "the sign"........
