PLEASE WELCOME CP'S NEWEST FAMILY MEMBERS!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Recently, six little Cairns made their way to freedom, out of the heat, humidity and oppressive conditions they have been enduring this summer and into the care and comfort of Col. Potter's loving arms! We have little in the way of details on them and will have to rely on our vet to provide that. My thanks to our CP volunteer for making the trip to pick them up, get pictures of them and gave them a place to spend their first night in freedom before heading to the vet this morning.

Four of these furkids have names from our Name a Mill Cairn Program. It doesn't have to be a special occasion to remember or honor someone and the Name a Mill Cairn Program is the gift that lives on.

Please help me welcome our newest CP family members:

Abie Rose: Female, named in memory of Kathy T's mom who passed away on 5/26/10; she was truly Abie's Wild Irish Rose

Diva: Female, red wheaten - named in memory of Lynne B's beloved Dobe

Mylinda: Female, wheaten

Sainted Riley: Male, red wheaten - named in memory of Rebecca P's and Paul J's first Cairn

Sir Isaac Newton: Male, gray brindle - named in memory Of Rebecca P's and Paul J's precious CP puppy, Sandia, who died tragically right before his 3rd birthday.

Stunner: Male, brindle, born Jan. 2010

Welcome to the good life, welcome to CP!

2 new cairns join the CP family!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Two more little Cairns have found their way to the CP family! They come to us from a breeding operation who has released quite a few cairns to us the last few years. The furkids from here are generally well cared for, pretty friendly and socialized and adorable! These two are no exception!

They also have some pretty special names. Both of their names were donated through the Name a Mill Cairn Program. This program does so much to help the furkids, and at the same time it is a wonderful way to remember, honor or celebrate someone special in your life with a unique, memorable, living gift. This program is available year round and is truly the gift that keeps on giving. So, without further ado, please help me welcome Loebie and TJ!!

Loebie - Female, born 6/27/08, grey brindle - named in honor of Carol L. our Sister Bubbles, for all of her dedication of making blankies for the CP fosters through the CP Blanket Aunties.

TJ - Male, born 2/1/05, wheaten - donated by Geri & Joe P. in memory of their son who was 17 when he died in 1993.

WELCOME Loebie and TJ!!

Welcome Tazzer to the CP family!

Written by a CP volunteer

Please welcome Tazzer to Col. Potter! Tazzer is a beautiful brindle male, estimated to be between 1-2 years of age. His name was donated as part of the Name a Mill Cairn program. Tazzer is named to honor the memory of a beloved cairn who went to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year.

Tazzer came to us from a commercial breeding facility and is looking forward to learning all about being a wonderful family companion at his foster home before moving on to his forever family.

Thank you to Col. Potter and its volunteers for making Tazzer's "happily ever after" possible!

A Special Boy and Girl Remembered by CP

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

All the furkids that come into CP are special and have their own story, their own history and looking to make new history thanks to Col. Potter. Some of them tug at our heart strings because of where they came from, or a tragic death where they have nowhere else to now go. But then there are those that carry on a special name in memory of those that have passed. Such is the case with a little girl and boy that made their way to freedom from a commercial breeding facility we work with on a regular basis.

Please help me welcome and remember the lives of two special furkids who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge:

Myra: Female, wheaten, born 6/27/08 - named in memory of Susan M's beloved girl who was the inspiration for Susan to get into rescue.

Dreyfus: Male, black brindle, born 5/29/08 - named in memory of Danielle and George Rackstraw's beloved Dreyfus who we have all heard many stories about (Danielle is the founder of Col. Potter).

Helping cairns from breeding facilities find their way into Col. Potter is made possible by donations to the Name a Mill Cairn program. I know how special these two little furkids will be to Susan and Danielle and George as they watch them progress through CP and ultimately to a forever home. Please keep the Name a Mill Cairn program in mind for graduation gifts and Father's Day. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

I know Myra and Dreyfus have special guardian angels watching over them ...

CP HAS SPECIAL ONES REMEMBERED

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

This past weekend, four adorable little Cairns made it to freedom and into the loving arms of Col. Potter thanks to a CP volunteer braving sub-zero windchills, ice and snow to get them. This almost didn't happen because of the terrible weather in the midwest. Last Friday night I was faced with the dilemma of a key person not being able to get out due to the weather to get them and meet her. After many back and forth phone calls and making direct contact, I was able to get an alternate plan set-up and luckily everyone was able to get their cars started, plow through the ice and snow and to the meeting place yesterday to start these furkids on their journey.

Col. Potter would not be able to help the furkids coming out of breeding programs if it were not for the support of several key programs designed specifically to help these kids. One of them is the Name a PM Kid Program. This is a wonderful way to honor or remember someone that has done something special or who is no long with us. It also makes a great gift for the person who has everything or is a true Cairn lover and would like nothing better than a gift that keeps giving. Please consider donating to the name a PM Kid Program and give the gift of life for a PM Cairn.

All four of the Special Ones Remembered are from the Name a PM Kid Program and are in memory of a special one to a CP member:

Betty Jane - F - in memory of Amy and Brian's special Betty Jane

Cassie O - F - in memory of Karen and Tony's beloved Cassie, the cat

Tiny Bits - F - in memory of Daphne E's mother whose nickname was Tiny Bits

Billy Howard - M - in memory of Bobbie B' s dad, Billy H.

A ll four of these kids were born in 4/05 and I think you will agree are just adorable. These Special Ones all have other Special Ones looking over them. Please help me welcome the Special Ones Remembered to CP!
