Lenny joined the CP family today. His family contacted us for help when personal health issues forced them to seek a new home for this adorable, almost 5 year old boy. He’s described as energetic, smart and communicative – housebroken, good with other dogs and even good with cats.
Welcome little guy!

Please Welcome Kelly Anne
Contributed by a CP Intakes Team Volunteer

Kelly Anne became a Col Potter girl earlier this week. She had been picked up as a stray and held in a rural shelter for several days but no one claimed her. She was out of time when the rescue team found out about her and again, thanks to an incredible CP volunteer (there are so many), she is now safely in the Col Potter family.
Kelly Anne is estimated to be 4-5 years old and is a tiny little girl – weighing in at just 13.2 lbs. She’ll be arriving at her foster home very late tonight where she’ll be welcomed with open arms.
Thank you Susan B for dropping everything and answering the plea for help in picking her up from that rural shelter and delivering her to the vet.

Please Welcome Binky
Contributed by a CP Intakes Coordinator

On my – what a story this little guy has! Binky was found as a stray and taken to a vet. The vet scanned for a microchip and contacted his owner. The owner said the dog was her recently deceased husband’s dog and she didn’t want him back. She also said that he’d been staying in her shed in the back yard and she would go out and feed/water him every couple of days. Fortunately for Binky, he found a way to escape the shed and even more fortunately someone found him before something bad happened to him. Everyone at the vet clinic just fell in love with this little guy, but no one was able to give him a new home. So they contacted us and today he’s a CP kid.
Binky is bed and biscuiting this week with a wonderful volunteer until we locate a foster home for him. She said he’s just adorable and very friendly. And he is going to have a gorgeous, multi-colored brindle coat once it grows out. He’s estimated to be 4-5 years old.

Welcome Tanya
Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Please give a warm welcome to Col. Potter's new girl, Tanya. She is estimated to be 4-5 years old, and is a gorgeous wheaten girl. She is described as "typical cairn". In other words, she loves to bark, run, play, interact with her people, but she enjoys napping nearby too. She has a zest for life that makes all who meet her smile. She is housetrained, cratetrained, and enjoys the company of other dogs. She is a real treasure!!

New boy in town!
Written by CP's VP of Intakes

As most young men do, this handsome Cairn boy found a way to "escape" his home, probably while he was chasing some "hot prey" and then couldn't find his way home again. Instead, he luckily ended up with a local rescue group, but had a little too much Cairnitude for them to handle. So, they called for the experts to help keep this boy safe and find him a wonderful new forever home that knows just what it takes to keep these Cairn boys at home without making another "Great Escape".
Oh, the girls are going to swoon when they get a look at Hilts, our new boy in town. He's estimated to be 4 years old and a real heartbreaker!

Gwen runs into CP!
Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Please meet Gwen. She is an owner surrender and is approximately 4 -6 yrs of age. She has a strong prey drive and her favorite past time in her 'old' life was escaping through the gate of her fenced in yard when children left it open.
She sure is a cutie. Welcome Gwen!

Mariah rescued by CP!
Written by a CP Intakes volunteer

Another sad story of a little cairn dumped by her owner at shelter…..As if that’s not bad enough, a gassing shelter! Once Intakes found out she was just about out of time, we sprang into action. Thanks to one of our big-hearted foster moms, little Mariah was swiftly rescued and transported to our vet.
Mariah is a tiny girl at 11 lbs, 4-5 years old and just a little cutie with 1 ear up and 1 ear down. She was, understandably, very scared at the shelter but warmly greeted her rescuer by jumping up looking for treats. Mariah is named after her rescuer’s granddaughter who just celebrated her 16th birthday. Mariah is currently receiving her spa treatment and will be moving to her foster home next weekend.
Please welcome Mariah! Life will only get better for this little cairn.

The Race Continues! This Time It's NASCAR!
Somehow this sweet wheaten cairn boy ended up in an animal shelter as a stray. Once again our always ready volunteer, Ruth H., received a call for help. This 4-5 year old cairn picked up kennel cough at the shelter which delayed his journey to Col. Potter. We were patiently waiting for the day he would be able to join us. A change in Florida law recently went into effect regarding spaying and neutering of pets which caused an influx of pets being dumped at shelters. Word came that Nascar had only 24 hours due to overcrowding. Ruth took to the highway to bring Nascar to safety. He is now at the vet getting ready for his foster home.
So far we know he is a very sweet boy, cute, lovable, gives good puppy kisses, and prefers jazz over Led Zeppelin. Please welcome Nascar!!
