Please help welcome our newest rescue, Paige. This gorgeous 5 year old girl earned her freedom this past weekend, from a life in a commercial breeding facility. She is very friendly, happy, and loving. Paige doesn't know a stranger and loves and kisses every person or child she meets!

This week she will have her spa treatment, and this weekend she will head to her foster home for the next leg on her journey.

Wishbone joins the CP family!

Wishbone is a 5-1/2 year old little cairn who joined the Col. Potter family recently. His family could no longer care for him and asked if we could find him a new family.

Fortunately, Col. Potter's plea for foster homes turned up a home that hadn’t fostered for a few years. And, as fate probably had a hand in this, the foster home just happened to be in an area we could get little Wishbone to very quickly.

Cute little Zeva crawls into CP!

I received a call this morning from my local animal service asking if Col. Potter could take this little girl. She was picked up as a stray and no one came looking for her. She was past her hold time and the shelter was out of room. Sooooo….. with some quick emails/phone calls she got approval to become a CP girl!

She’s estimated to be 5-7 years old and weighs about 13 lbs. She has some hair loss on her back and is a little itchy. Zeva is a very sweet, happy little girl and does the cutest little belly crawl.

THREE FILM STARS PREMIERING NOW IN CP!!

Life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get" is a line from the 1994 film Forrest Gump. This film taught many life lessons about never giving up, seeing the world a little differently and being able to do just about anything if you put your mind to it. In many ways, our rescue Cairns are alot like some of the main characters from this film. Forrest Gump said "You've always got to put the past behind you before you can move on."

This weekend, three little Cairn boys did put the past behind them and are now moving on to a life of love and freedom with Col. Potter. While we never know exactly what we're going to be getting when we dip into the "box of chocolates", I'm certain that these three are all something very sweet.

Forrest is Male, DOB 11/21/03, wheaten - he's the shy one of the group and sits and shakes, but loves to get skritches.




Lt. Dan is Male, DOB 9/4/03, red wheaten - he's athletic and appears to have had something to cause him to lose the black pigment on his upper left lip.



Bubba Gump is Male, DOB 4/11/05, dark brindle - he's a talker who loved getting a bath. Bubba Gump is a donated name from the Name a PM Kid Program. He is named in honor and memory of another Bubba Gump from New Jersey.



Thanks to two incredible people who are always there and ready to help the furkids. A photo album follows.

"I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is" -- another wonderful line from the movie and one that if these little boys don't already know what love is, they will soon learn. Please help me welcome Forrest, Lt. Dan and Bubba Gump who now has a special Guardian Angel as his "best good friend".

Please Welcome Satori to CP!!

Satori is the Japanese Buddhist term for enlightenment. The word literally means understanding. Satori translates as a flash of sudden awareness, or individual enlightenment, and while satori is from the Zen Buddhist tradition, enlightenment can be simultaneously considered the first step or embarkation toward nirvana.

Imagine being help held captive in a small wire cage, wondering when or even if your next meal will come. Water is scarce. Some days the heat is so intense you can barely breathe. Imagine being bred, over and over, for 5-6 years, only to have your babies ripped from you too soon, when they are too young, and still in need of you. Then, imagine the day you are set free. The day someone takes you into their arms to hold you, pet you, the first time you get to feel grass under your feet, play with a toy or the first time you run free.

Sadly, for most breeder furkids, this is a very scary time. But with the love and patience our foster homes provide these scared furkids, slowly, a flash of sudden awareness, an individual enlightenment, the understanding that they will never be tormented again happens. It’s the reason we all do what we do, the reason we joined Col Potter. I am proud to introduce Satori, a 5-6 year old former breeder girl, on her way to her foster home. On her way to her to her the first step or embarkation toward nirvana.
